The 2025-26 NFL pre-season season begins Thursday as the Detroit Lions take on the Los Angeles Chargers in the 2025 NFL Hall of Fame game.
The game is set to take place at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio, which, of course, is the city where the National Football League Hall of Fame is located.
The NFL Pro Football Hall of Fame announced in April that last season’s NFC North champions, the Lions would be hitting the gridiron to take on the AFC West Wild Card team, the Chargers, in the first matchup of the preseason.
“This game features two teams that can be considered legitimate contenders to reach Super Bowl LX next February,” Pro Football Hall of Fame President and CEO Jim Porter said in a statement (via the NFL). “For them to face each other right out of the gate in Canton, Ohio, should create a dynamic opening to another spectacular NFL season.”
The 2025 NFL Hall of Fame game is set to begin at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT. The game will air on free TV on NBC and stream on NBC Universal’s Peacock platform.
For viewers who don’t subscribe to Peacock, the platform has two streaming tiers— an ad-based Peacock Premium tier costs $10.99 per month or $109.99 yearly and the ad-free Peacock Premium Plus tier costs $16.99 per month or $169.99 yearly.
Ads, however, play during live sporting events on Peacock — including NFL games — whether you subscribe to Peacock Premium or Peacock Premium Plus.
This Year’s Hall Of Fame Enshrinees Will Be Celebrated At The Game
Four professional football greats will be celebrated at the NFL Hall of Fame game this year after being enshrined at the Hall on Aug. 2.
Eric Allen, Jared Allen and Antonio Gates were elected to the NFL Hall of Fame through the Modern Era players pool, while Sterling Sharpe was elected by the Seniors Blue-Ribbon Committee.
Eric Allen, a cornerback, is entering the Hall of Fame as a Philadelphia Eagle in his 19th year of eligibility, while Jared Allen, a defensive end is entering the Hall as a Minnesota Viking in his fifth year of eligibility.
Gates, a tight end, is entering the Hall of Fame as a San Diego/Los Angeles Charger in his second year of eligibility, while Sharpe, a wide receiver, is entering the Hall as a Green Bay Packer in his 26th year of eligibility.
