Fire Country is back. CBS’s hit firefighter procedural returns for Season 4 on Friday, Oct. 17, continuing from the explosive Season 3 finale that left multiple characters’ lives hanging in the balance. Here’s everything you need to know about the premiere, including the start time, release schedule and more.
When viewers last saw Bode Leone (Max Thieriot) and the Cal Fire team, the Zabel Ridge fire was tearing through Edgewater. The blaze reached the Buena Vista memory care facility, where Vince’s father, Walter, was receiving treatment. The building collapsed, trapping Vince, his wife Sharon (Cal Fire Division Chief), and Walter (a retired battalion chief) inside. Bode was restrained from going inside and had to watch helplessly as his family remained trapped in danger.
Fire Country’s Season 4 promo revealed the devastating news: Vince (Billy Burke) — the Leone family patriarch and Station 42 battalion chief — did not survive. In a September 2025 interview with TV Insider, Thieriot explained that the level of grief Bode will experience in Season 4 isn’t like anything he’s ever experienced before, probably since his sister Riley died, if ever.
In the upcoming episodes, Bode will be “at the edge of not being able to put one foot in front of the other,” Thieriot said. “I think we see him really sort of at his breaking point constantly, but because of that — and this season is really about rising from the ashes and overcoming — his journey will be one that, people always say, ‘You have to get knocked down to get back up.’ And this is really sort of the epitome of that for him.”
Bode will have the support of his mom and the Cal Fire crew, including his best friend Jake (Jordan Calloway), to help him through it. However, one person who won’t be part of his grief journey is Gabriela Perez (Stephanie Arcila), Bode’s on-again-off-again love interest. The show confirmed that Arcila will leave Fire Country early in Season 4.
The premiere, titled “Goodbye for Now,” will take place in the aftermath of the fatal Zabel Ridge fire. “Station 42 faces internal turmoil but must rally together for a high-stakes rescue that tests their strength, loyalty and the future of the firehouse,” the logline reads.
