One of the leading cryptocurrency exchange and trading platforms in America, Coinbase has posted a job posting titled as ‘Executive Protection Senior’. If the job posting seems unreal and weird to you, don’t worry, go through the details of the qualifications the job requires and then decide if it turned out to be your dream job.
Generally, job ads for Coinbase or other companies go titled with backend engineers, senior business system analysts, or account managers asking for experience inputs like Python, Java and blockchain protocols. You might be surprised after seeing the recent job post if you are someone who is used to the above-mentioned posts. Coinbase put on a vacancy for a person with experience in ‘counter-surveillance, plus ‘tactical driving skills that applied to a chauffeur’s approach.
As a recruitment manager posted on LinkedIn stated, quoting the job role of the person that he would need to create contingency plans, would have to conduct risk assessments during travel and cooperate with important stakeholders at different venues. With expertise in effortless execution with the natural ability to make things happen seamlessly and the person will be resourceful.
However, the posting seems to show that Coinbase is in need of a bodyguard for its senior executives, who also preferred to have deep knowledge or curiosity to learn about crypto-related advanced matters. Crypto exchange is looking for someone who seeks to be professional in cutting edge tech like NFTs, DeFi, DAOs and Web 3.
Further, the job demands a person to possess remote skills of wilderness first aid, the candidate needs to have medical training more than just First Aid and CPR or at least willing to have this in case of its absence. Also the person needs to have strong administrative skills and should be familiar with Slack and Meet like business tools.
However there is no mention of formal military background but the job post demands from the candidate an experience of five to seven year with three to five years experience of extensive OCONUS operations. In American concerned military, the term OCONUS referred to the person having the postings Outside the Contiguous United States. Overall by job posting, it’s being assumed that a bodyguard cum driver is being searched for VIP executives of Coinbase.
