‘Wednesday’ Season 2, Part 1 Character Guide: Who Plays Who?

Jenna Ortega’s Wednesday Addams returns to Nevermore Academy in Netflix’s Wednesday Season 2, Part 1, directed and executive produced by Tim Burton alongside creators Alfred Gough and Miles Millar.

Part 1 of Season 2, appropriately, begins streaming on Wednesday, Aug. 6.

Wednesday Season 1 became an instant streaming sensation after all eight episodes of the series debuted on Netflix on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2022. To date, the macabre comedy mystery remains the most-streamed series globally in the history of Netflix with 252.1 million views, which equates to a staggering 1.718 billion hours viewed.

Wednesday, of course, is a member of the creepy and kooky and altogether ooky Addams Family, who were born of the imagination of legendary New Yorker cartoonist Charles Addams in a series of cartoons.

The Addams Family first sprang off the pages of The New Yorker to the live-action realm for the classic ABC-TV series in 1964.

From there, the series leaped from television to theaters for two Addams Family movies in 1991 and 1993, which were followed by animated iterations on both the small and big screens in the years before Wednesday arrived on Netflix in 2022.

Wednesday Season 2, Part 1 consists of four episodes, which begin streaming on Wednesday. Here’s a look at the principal characters for Wednesday’s sophomore season at Nevermore Academy.

Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega)

Jenna Ortega reprises the title role of Wednesday Addams in Wednesday Season 2.

Ortega’s previous TV roles include the role of Young Jane in Jane the Virgin, the voice of Princess Isabel in the animated series Elena of Avalor and the voice of Brooklynn in the animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous.

Ortega’s film credits include X, Scream, Scream VI, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Death of a Unicorn and Hurry Up Tomorrow.

Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones)

Catherine Zeta-Jones reprises her role as Addams family matriarch Morticia Addams in Wednesday Season 2. Zeta-Jones has been promoted from guest star in Season 1 to cast regular in Season 2 as Morticia and Gomez Addams spend some time at Nevermore Academy.

Zeta-Jones won a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for playing Velma Kelly in the 2002 Best Picture Oscar winner Chicago (2002).

Zeta-Jones’ other film credits include The Mask of Zorro, The Legend of Zorro, Entrapment, Traffic, High Fidelity, Ocean’s Twelve, Rock of Ages and RED 2.

In addition to Wednesday, Zeta-Jones’ TV credits include National Treasure: Edge of History and Feud: Capote vs. The Swans.

Gomez Addams (Luis Guzmán)

Luis Guzmán reprises his role of Addams Family patriarch Gomez Addams in Wednesday, Season 2. Like Catherine Zeta-Jones, Guzmán has been promoted from a guest star in Season 1 to a cast regular in Season 2 as Wednesday and Pugley’s parents have an increased presence in the series.

Guzmán’s film credits include Black Rain, Carlito’s Way, Out of Sight, Magnolia, Traffic, Boogie Nights, Punch-Drunk Love and Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.

In addition to Wednesday, Guzmán’s TV credits include Oz, Luis, John from Cincinnati, How to Make it in America, Narcos, Code Black, Godfather of Harlem and Shameless.

Pugsley Addams (Isaac Ordonez)

Isaac Ordonez reprises his role of Wednesday Addams’ younger bother, Pugsley, in Wednesday Season 2 and is a new enrollee as Nevermore Academy. Wednesday is Ordonez’s first major screen credit.

Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen)

Fred Armisen reprises his role as Uncle Fester in Wednesday Season 2. In addition to Wednesday, Armisen’s TV credits include Saturday Night Live, Portlandia, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, Our Flag Means Death, The Last Man on Earth, Late World with Zach, Documentary Now! and Schmigadoon!

Armisen’s TV voice credits include Crank Yankers, Squidbillies, The Looney Tunes Show, Nature Cat, Archer and Big Mouth, and on film, Smurfs, Smurfs 2 and Thelma the Unicorn.

Armisen’s film credits incude Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy, Easy A and Unfrosted.

Grandmama Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley)

Joanna Lumley joins Wednesday for Season 2 as Hester Frump, Morticia Addams’ mother and grandmother of Wednesday and Pugsley, aka Grandmama.

Lumley reunites with her Corpse Bride collaborator Tim Burton in Wednesday Season 2. Lumley’s other film credits include Curse of the Pink Panther, James and the Giant Peach, Ella Enchanted, The Wolf of Wall Street, Me Before You, Paddingon 2 and Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie, based on her iconic TV series of the same name.

In addition to Absolutely Fabulous, Lumley’s TV credits include The New Avengers, Sapphire & Steel, Class Act, Sensitive Skin, Fool Me Once and Amandaland.

Lurch (Joonas Suotamo)

Joonas Suotamo joins Wednesday Season 2 as the Addams family’s tall and lanky butler, Lurch.

After being a double for Peter Mayhew’s Chewbacca in Star Wars: Episode VII – The Force Awakens, Suotamo played Chewie in Episode VII: The Last Jedi and Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker and Solo: A Stars Wars Story.

Suotamo has also starred as the Wookie Master Kelnacca in the Star Wars series The Acolyte and the monstrous creature The Scourge in the Willow streaming series.

Thing (Hand Of Victor Dorobantu)

Through the wonders of technology, Victor Dorobantu’s hand returns as Wednesday Addams’ (disembodied) right hand man in Wednesday, Season 2. Dorobantu reprises the role from Season 1, which marks his first screen credit.

Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers)

Emma Myers reprises her role of Wednesday Addams cheerful rommated Enid Sinclair in Wednesday Season 2.

Myers’ TV credits also include A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder and on film, she’s starred in Family Switch and A Minecraft Movie.

Bianca Barclay (Joy Sunday)

Joy Sunday reprises her role as Wednesday’s Nevermore Academy classmate Bianca Barclay, who has the power of persuasion as a Siren, in Wednesday Season 2.

Sunday’s TV credits also include the series Yas Kween and guest roles in MacGuyver, Carol’s Second Act, Good Trouble and Dear White People, while her film credits include Bad Hair, Dog and Rise.

Tyler Galpin (Hunter Doohan)

Hunter Doohan reprises his role as Tyler Galpin, a local who was exposed as a Hyde in Wednesday, Season 1. Tyler is being held in an institution in Wednesday Season 2.

Doohan’s other TV credits include the series Truth Be Told, Your Honor and Daredevil: Born Again and the TV Movie Cagney and Lacey.

Principal Barry Dort (Steve Buscemi)

Steve Buscemi reunites with his Big Fish director Tim Burton to play the new character, Nevermore Academy Principal Barry Dort, in Wednesday, Season 2.

Buscemi’s film roles also include Joel and Ethan Coen’s Barton Fink, The Hudsucker Proxy, The Big Lebowski and Fargo, as well as Quentin Tarantino’s Reservoir Dogs and Pulp Fiction.

Buscemi’s other film credits include Armageddon, Con Air, The Wedding Singer and Happy Gilmore 2, and voice roles in Monsters, Inc. and Monsters University. His television credits include The Sopranos, 30 Rock, Boardwalk Empire, Miracle Workers and the voice of Good Buddy in Poker Face.

Bruno Yuson (Noah B. Taylor)

Noah B. Taylor joins Wednesday for Season 2 as Bruno Yuson, a new student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday is Taylor’s first major screen credit.

Agnes DeMille (Evie Templeton)

Evie Templeton joins Wednesday Season 2 as Agnes DeMille, a new student at Nevermore Academy. Templeton’s screen credits include a supporting role in Disney’s live-action version of Pinocchio in 2022 and a guest role in the series Criminal Record.

Isadora Capri (Billie Piper)

Billie Piper joins Wednesday Season 2 as Isadora Capri, Nevermore Academy’s new music director.

Piper’s other TV credits include Doctor Who (as Rose Tyler from 2005-2013), Secret Diary of a Call Girl and Penny Dreadful. Piper’s film credits include the TV movies Scoop and Mansfield Park.
