Watch Luke Skywalker Train Cal Kestis In This Live-Action ‘Star Wars Jedi: Survivor’ Trailer

Honestly, the new live-action trailer for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, starring Cameron Monaghan and Mark Hamill, may be better than the entire Star Wars sequel trilogy. At least, I enjoy the interactions here between Luke Skywalker and Cal Kestis more than most bits in The Last Jedi.

Granted, neither of these actors are actually in character here, so it would be more accurate to say Mark Hamill is training Cameron Monaghan, but it’s as close as we’ll ever get to this team-up and I am, as the kids say, here for it. Luke + Cal = Star Wars perfection.

Hamill throwing popcorn at a blindfolded Monaghan who has to remind him that he doesn’t actually have the Force is hilarious. Hamill bitterly complaining that “they never gave me two lightsabers” is even funnier. Grumpy grandpa Luke Skywalker is great, and I still think that with a better overall story, he’d have been a wonderful new iteration of the character in The Last Jedi.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor launches tomorrow, Friday the 28th. I’m working on a review currently and so far I’m absolutely loving the game just like I loved the first one, with one big caveat. On PC, at least, there are just so many performance issues. Hopefully those will be ironed out with the day zero patch.
