At long last, Call Of Duty: Warzone is getting a new small-sized map for the game’s ‘Resurgence’ mode. The current map, Rebirth Island, has been the only small map the free-to-play game has offered until now.
Rebirth Island was recently overhauled with new points of interest, a warmer color palette and some other changes, but at long last the game will now have two small maps in rotation.
The new map is called Fortune’s Keep and it looks really terrific and imaginative. Developed by High Moon Studios, this is a more fanciful island, replete with old cobblestone streets, a winery, a smuggler’s cove and a Medieval keep. Here’s the map:
Fortune’s Keep is located in the Adriatic Sea, so think Italy and Croatia—warm water, olive trees and vineyards. Old, red-roofed buildings and seagulls overhead. The kind of place you’d want to go vacation at—unlike the industrial prison that is Rebirth Island.
Activision and High Moon have released new screenshots of the various points of interest in Fortune’s Keep. There are many different POVs, but four ‘primary’ locations that we’ll go through below in our little tour of the new island.
The Town
On the western side of the island is the Town POV. Cobbled streets, lots of interiors and plenty of tight corridors make up this sloping village above the sea.
There’s even a mysterious graveyard which, I believe, will eventually produce undead denizens. There are plenty of little hints that this area and the Winery (which we’ll get to in a minute) could be haunted—though probably closer to Halloween.
Smuggler’s Cove
This seaside cove suggests that Fortune’s Keep was once the home of pirates and ne’er-do-wells and it’s surely one of the better places to find top-tier loot on the island. It’s also a good place to find cover and avoid open ground as the battle intensifies.
You can drop in through massive holes in the ground or head in from tunnels by the shore.
The Keep
The keep from whence the map gets its name is the crown jewel of the island, a towering structure with ramparts, towers and massive interior halls.
Secret passages link up the Keep to the various other points of interest, so there are plenty of ways to traverse undetected.
As you can see, it’s quite grand, with some excellent spaces for exciting gunfights (in fact, can we turn this area into a Gunfight map?)
The Winery
The Winery is the last of the four main points of interest, nestled across the island on its eastern shore. It’s comprised of the winery itself with its spacious loot-filled cellars as well as a vineyard and makeshift military camp.
Fortune’s Keep goes live this Wednesday when Season 4 of Call Of Duty: Vanguard and Warzone launches at 9am PT / 12pm ET.
See you in the Warzone!
