Oana Ruxandra, Chief Digital Officer & EVP, Business Development, WMG said:
I don’t think we can underestimate how massive the opportunity around P2E gaming is. By partnering with Splinterlands to build custom tokenized games, we’ll unlock new revenue streams for our artists who have an interest in the space while elevating the role of fandom and community. As the Web3 ecosystem continues to evolve, WMG is committed to making sure music is front-and-center.
Jesse “Aggroed” Reich, Splinterlands Co-Founder and CEO added:
Warner Music Group is a leader in the music industry. They are innovating the music industry to meet the standards set by Web 3.0 community members. We’re thrilled to be working with them and I look forward to new collaborations at the intersection of gaming, music, crypto, NFTs, defi, and blockchain.
Taking blockchain gaming mainstream
By focusing on arcade-style gaming, WMG and Splinterlands will produce user-friendly games accessible on mobile. They can foster community building and facilitate wider adoption more easily than traditional play-to-earn games.
Blockchain games account for half of industry use
Blockchain games are a key part of the future of both gaming and crypto. As such, they are rapidly increasing in popularity. DappRadar data shows they make up half of the entire blockchain industry’s use.
P2E games give players real world value
Play to earn games are created with the aim to bring power back to the players. Accordingly, they leverage blockchain technology to give players NFTs and other rewards with real-world value. Players can lease, sell, and exchange any asset they earn in-game.
