Vitalik Buterin Mocks Paul Graham – Trustnodes

Ethereum’s co-founder Vitalik Buterin has mocked Paul Graham, the founder of startup incubator Ycombinator who said:

“A person I have known for more than ten years, who I consider trustworthy, is convinced the cryptocurrency economy will shortly experience a systemic risk. I don’t know anything concrete, but if I were exposed, I would be concerned.”

He then bizarrely added: “I didn’t write that. He did. Since I don’t know any details, I didn’t feel I should edit it. And because I don’t know any details, it’s no use asking me what he means. If you’ve read the preceding tweet, you know as much as I do.”

Ycombinator funded Coinbase back in 2012, though just how much Brian Armstrong and Graham are still in touch, is anyone’s guess.

Nor is it clear whether Graham is a bit late with this ‘systemic’ event considering both Luna and FTX have already collapsed. Seemingly in reply, Buterin said:

“I’m hearing through the grapevine that something important is about to happen. Please recognize the fact that my elite social connections to people who are early to know things make me cool, and please help me validate my self-image of coolness.”

Graham didn’t take the mockery lightly. “That’s an asshole thing to say,” Graham said. “I wasn’t responding to you,” replied Buterin.

And with that we can close another session of On the Grapevine as the rumor mill seems to be edging towards peak with even people that never talk about crypto, like Graham, seemingly now participating in the great game of crypto Chinese whispers.
