The Brooklyn Nets continue to remake their roster with big-name additions in their pursuit of the franchise’s first NBA championship.
The Nets are signing veteran point guard Goran Dragic, while waiving Jevon Carter, according to ESPN and The Athletic. Dragic, who will be reunited with coach Steve Nash from their time together in Phoenix, will sign for the rest of the season, agent Bill Duffy confirmed.
The 6-foot-3 native of Slovenia will presumably handle point guard duties while the Nets integrate Ben Simmons back into action and while Kyrie Irving remains out for home games due to being unvaccinated.
James Harden was the team’s primary point guard before he was swapped in the blockbuster trade involving Simmons.
Dragic, 35, appeared in five games this season for the Toronto Raptors, and he was dealt to the San Antonio Spurs earlier this month before accepting a buyout.
He has also played for the Phoenix Suns, Miami Heat and Houston Rockets. He was an All-NBA Third Team selection and the NBA Most Improved Player with the Suns in 2014. He was named an NBA All-Star for the first time in 2018 with Miami.
He has career averages of 13.9 points and 4.8 assists.
The Nets (31-28) are currently the No. 8 seed in the East.
