Vanguard Season 5 ‘Last Stand’ Goes Live

The final Call Of Duty: Vanguard season of Warzone is almost here.

One more Vanguard-themed Battle Pass and one more vaguely WWII-themed season, though the ‘Last Stand’ of Season 5 basically tosses out any semblance of historical realism and instead time-travels a group of nefarious villains from Call Of Duty history into the same timeline. Which is actually pretty badass.

Last Stand New Content

The volcano at the center of Warzone’s map is about to explode, changing the landscape of Caldera with streams of flowing lava. Even the Gulag is changing one last time, based on the classic Showers Call Of Duty map, but with a volcanic twist. And Rebirth Island moves to a sunset theme, which is symbolic as much as anything. (I rarely play on that map now that the far more interesting Fortune’s Keep is live and keeping things fresh).

A limited time mode called Operation: Last Call mirrors Search & Destroy from multiplayer, and items like Supply Box UAV, melee-boosting Rage Serum and the Doomsday Station should mix things up nicely for the end of Vanguard’s Warzone run. The Heroes Vs. Villains Seasonal Event should also add some fun new challenges and gameplay twists for players looking for something new.

In Vanguard, two new maps await players. Beheaded brings players to a post-apocalyptic New York City, while Fortress takes place in a desert graveyard of old and rotting ships.

In Zombies, ‘The Archon’ is the final round-based map of Vanguard’s content release schedule. Zombies has been a bit of a sore spot for Vanguard players, but this looks like a pretty good way to wrap things up.

A new Battle Pass will include 100 tiers of goodies, and four new Operators will be available in the coming season, all of whom are classic Call Of Duty villains:

When Does Season 4 End And Season 5 Begin?

The current season of Warzone and Call Of Duty: Vanguard began on July 27th, 2022. It draws to a close tonight, with Season 5—aka the ‘Last Stand’—kicking off tomorrow, Wednesday August 24th.

Vanguard’s update has already gone live as of this time. An update to Warzone will be available Wednesday, August 24th at 9am. As soon as that update is downloaded and installed, Season 5 will be live and ready to play. That 9am PT translates to 12pm ET, 4pm UTC and 5pm in the UK.
