USIU Africa to host third regional AI and machine learning conference in Nairobi

USIU Africa (United States International University Africa), in collaboration with Applied Machine Learning Days (AMLD) Africa, is gearing up to host the third edition of the regional AI and Machine Learning (ML) conference in Nairobi. The conference, scheduled from February 27 to March 1, aims to highlight Africa’s commitment to spearheading AI initiatives in key sectors such as economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and healthcare sustainability.

Empowering Africa through AI

The event, organized by AMLD Africa, seeks to empower Africa to tackle existing challenges and position itself as a frontrunner in sustainable development and technological innovation. With a focus on diverse audiences, including students and professionals from various fields, the conference aims to demonstrate the broad applicability of AI in addressing societal needs.

Participating universities include Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture and Technology (JKUAT), KCA University, Mount Kenya University (MKU), the University of Nairobi (UON), and Zetech University. Students can engage in specialized tracks such as AI and healthcare, AI for cultural preservation, and AI for sustainability and economic empowerment.

In addition to academic sessions, a community day is planned to facilitate interaction with diverse African communities, offering insights into AI implementations tailored to local contexts.

Professionals from various sectors, including climate change, agriculture, healthcare, and policymaking, will benefit from networking sessions, workshops, and discussions tailored to their interests and expertise.
