The American multinational shipping and receiving company, United Parcel Service (UPS), plans to enter the Metaverse. This news was made public by a Non-Fungible Token (NFT) attorney, Mike Kondoudis, via Twitter.
He cited that the company filed new patent applications to register United Parcel Service, the UPS store, UPS, and the UPS logo.
The multinational submitted the applications to the US Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on April 5, covering many virtual and NFT goods and services. UPS particularly strives to facilitate NFTs and crypto collectibles, virtual retail shipping and delivery, Virtual clothing, packages, vehicles, airplanes, NFT-backed multimedia, sports collectibles, marketplaces for digital goods, and NFT-powered media, and retail stores featuring virtual goods.
According to Kondoudis, who highlighted his views on UPS’s decision to file patent applications for his virtual world products and services, UPS is a global shipping and delivery brand. The value attached to its trademark is considerable. And that these fillings are the next logical move to protect the UPS brand as it enters the Metaverse.
Furthermore, he believed that these patent filings signify that the shipping and receiving company believes in the potential of the Metaverse. He highlighted that UPS is preparing its trademarks and brand for the digital economy with an expectation that it might emerge at the forefront in the metaverse space.
He drew the curtains by highlighting that they expect the number of trademarks fillings for NFT and virtual products and services from the shipping, logistics, and package delivery sector to surge in the next twelve months as brands come to praise the requirement for protection in the Metaverse.
Metaverse is growing at a huge pace and among the various reasons apart from being a solid concept is the entry of top-notch entities into this digital realm. Recently, former Red Devil David Beckham became the global ambassador of DigitalBits. The presence of entities like Becks already says a lot about how important Metaverse is and how prominent entities think of it.
