Global Reception of Indian content

Netflix Co-CEO Ted Sarandos attended the inaugural WAVES Global Summit 2025 which concluded recently. He elaborated on the global reception of Indian content and expressed belief in Indian content heading towards global breakthrough. “The creative foundation is being laid, and with platforms like Netflix, the reach is already here. India is one of the most fan-centric markets, which makes this coexistence (of theatres and digital streaming) possible. Most people just want to watch great stories. If you want to watch a movie, I want to be able to deliver it to you.”

He said that fan-centric approach of bringing films from theatres to cinemas fast has widened the access. “This idea of democratizing access to film, India was ahead of the curve,” he adds. Sarandos was speaking at the conversation titled Streaming the New India: Culture, Connectivity & Creative Capital during the WAVES Global Summit 2025.
