Elon Musk and Billy Markus are always up to something in Twitter threads. Recently, the Tesla CEO changed his name to “Mr. Tweet” on the social media platform. This ironically led him to the paradox where the now Twitter owner is unable to change his name, probably due to the current policy.
Is “Mr. Tweet” The Wrong Person For Twitter?
To this, Billy Markus, Dogecoin co-founder, replied sarcastically that he needs to complain about it to Mr. Musk. Recently, Twitter co-founder, Biz Stone, said during an interview with The Guardian, that Elon does not seem like the right person to own the social media platform. He added that Tesla CEO has “unwounded” the positive change he has done in the past.
Tesla’s CEO acquired the social media platform last year in October. He plans to implement free speech on the website, which many people believe is not a good idea. However, Cathie Wood, ARK Invest CEO, said that this would not affect the platform negatively as users can easily block them if they feel like it.
Minority leader Hakeem Jeffries and House Speaker Kevin McCarthy recently met with the Twitter CEO where he intended to make sure the platform is “fair” for all. The meeting came following a revelation in Twitter Files, that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was previously in contact with the company. The agency wanted to notify them of the accounts that may lead to violation of the website’s terms of service.
The Wall Street Journal reported that the company is also eyeing to raise $3 Billion and set off a part of a $13 Billion debt package. The following month, after the acquisition, Elon Musk said that the organization may have to go through bankruptcy considering a huge loss in revenue. Moreover, Elon Musk said that he has slashed 6,000 employees from the social media platform.
Social media is among the biggest industries in terms of user base, with Twitter being one of the leading platforms in this space. According to a market research agency, Insider Intelligence, Musk’s takeover of the company may lead the website into turmoil as growing frustrations among the users will lead them away. Moreover, analysts there believe that the organization will lose around 30 million users in a couple of years.
