After TWICE set a new touring record by becoming the first female K-pop act to hold two separate arena tours in America earlier this month, the girl group will soon hit another milestone.
On March 30, TWICE announced an encore show as part of their “III” World Tour to see the nine-member group play the Banc of California Stadium. The May 15 show marks the first time a female K-pop group will play a stadium concert in America and makes TWICE just the second-ever K-pop act to hold such a show.
There is no doubt that Banc of California’s 22,000-seat stadium should be a breeze for TWICE to fill, given the demand for their last shows. TWICE’s latest world tour included stops in Los Angeles, Oakland, Atlanta, Forth Worth, and New York, with 25,507 fans attending across the two dates at The Forum in LA. The shows grossed more than $4.4 million, according to Billboard.
While the achievement is impressive in and of itself, booking Banc of California Stadium boasts a powerful spotlight for visibility and representation of female artists. In the current list of upcoming events at Banc of California Stadium, TWICE is the only all-female act listed among artists like The Killers, Imagine Dragons, Santana, United, Chris Tomlin, and Earth Wind and Fire.
Tickets for the show will go on sale starting April 6 via Live Nation.
