Trump Wants Investigation Into Springsteen And Beyonce’s Endorsement Of Harris

Topline

President Donald Trump on Monday continued to escalate his feud with singer Bruce Springsteen—who attacked Trump at a concert in London last week by calling him “unfit” for office—alleging with no evidence the rock icon and other stars like Beyonce were possibly paid for their endorsements of former Vice President Kamala Harris during the 2024 election.

Key Facts

In a Truth Social post early on Monday, Trump suggested that Harris paid Springsteen for his “POOR PERFORMANCE DURING HER CAMPAIGN FOR PRESIDENT” and asked, “ISN’T THAT A MAJOR AND ILLEGAL CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTION?”

The president’s post also questioned the legitimacy of endorsements by Beyonce and Oprah, implying that they were paid to do so.

Trump then said he is going to “call for a major investigation into this matter,” as he accused Harris without evidence of paying for endorsements “under the guise of paying for entertainment.”

The president alleged the high-profile endorsements were a “desperate” and “NOT LEGAL” effort to “artificially build up her sparse crowds.”

He then lashed out at the celebrities, calling them “unpatriotic” and “CORRUPT.”

What Do We Know About Trump’s Feud With Bruce Springsteen?

This is the second time in the past week that Trump has attacked Springsteen. On Friday, Trump attacked the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, calling him “Highly Overrated.” “Never liked him, never liked his music, or his Radical Left Politics and, importantly, he’s not a talented guy,” Trump said of Springsteen. Trump also threatened the star musician, who is currently touring Europe, saying he should “KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country.”

What Has Springsteen Said About Trump?

Springsteen, who has been a vocal Trump critic for several years, denounced the president during a concert in the U.K. last week. The singer said the United States is “currently in the hands of a corrupt, incompetent and treasonous administration.” Springsteen added: “They’re persecuting people for using their right to free speech and voicing their dissent…The richest men are taking satisfaction in abandoning the world’s poorest children to sickness and death…They’re removing residents off American streets and, without due process of law, are deporting them to foreign detention centers and prisons.”

Tangent

Although his latest post did not mention her, last week, Trump attacked Taylor Swift—another superstar musician who had endorsed Harris in the 2024 election. In a post on Truth Social, Trump tweeted: “Has anyone noticed that, since I said ‘I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT,’ she’s no longer ‘HOT?’” The sudden rant against Swift appeared to be unprompted as the singer has not mentioned either him or his 2024 opponent in recent months. In February, the president mocked Swift in a Truth Social post after the Super Bowl, as some fans attending the game booed when she was shown on the big screen. Trump wrote: “The only one that had a tougher night than the Kansas City Chiefs was Taylor Swift,” as he claimed she was being “BOOED out of the Stadium” by his supporters, adding “MAGA is very unforgiving!” Swift was attending the game to support her boyfriend and Kansas City Chiefs player Travis Kelce.
