Activision is releasing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 remaster on July 11, 2025. The game will be available for PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and PC.
Before the reveal trailer on Tuesday, March 4, the game was already listed in the Infocommunications Media Development Authority database, letting out the secret. While Vicarious Visions developed previous remasters of THPS 1 and 2, Studio Iron Galaxy is developing Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4.
The reveal trailer shows that the game will be more visually enhanced. However, a disclaimer says that this is not the actual gameplay. The game will be available for multiplayer online sessions as in previous remasters, with new parks and new skaters. Some of the new skaters are Rayssa Leal, Chloe Covell, Jamie Foy, Zion Wright, Nyjah Huston, and Yuto Horigome.
The game will also include classic levels from the THPS series, such as Foundry, Airport, Canada, San Francisco, and Tokyo. It will also include Los Angeles, with the city’s popular Oceanwide Plaza.
The character roster includes classic skaters like Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Rodney Mullen, Rune Glifberg, and Bob Burnquist. However, Skater Bam Margera is not included in the remastered versions of 3 and 4.
Tony Hawk Skater 3+4 features Doom characters.
A digital deluxe version of the game will feature the Doom Slayer and Revenant from the Doom franchise by id Software. The deluxe version also has bonus in-game music.
Some of the original games’ soundtracks included in the upcoming remaster are “Amoeba” by Adolescents, “Mass Appeal” by Gang Starr, “Outta Here” by KRS-One, “Ace of Spades” by Motorhead, “Not the Same” by Bodyjar, and “96 Quite Bitter Beings” by CKY.
Previously, Toney Hawk had doubts about the possibility of a 3+4 remaster when Vicarious Visions merged into Blizzard Entertainment with Activision “going through all their stuff,” which involved Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard.
However, in an interview last year, Hawk hinted towards something “insanely exciting” that would be genuinely appreciated by the Pro Skater fans.
The THPS 3 2001 release was for Nintendo GameCube and PS2. It introduced the revert trick to the Pro Skater series for the first time. Later, this trick was added to Pro Skater 1 and 2.
Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 became popular for including more interactive levels like the one based in Los Angeles, which is transformed by an earthquake. It was also the first online multiplayer game on PS2.
A year after Skater 3 in 2002, THPS 4 was released. This version excluded the time limit of previous Pro Skater games. It included new mechanics like spine transfer and sketching for smoother switching between quarter pipers and grabbing onto a moving vehicle for a ride. The stitching mechanic appears in the recent 3+4 reveal trailer as well.
Activision is hyping up pre-orders for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 and 4 by giving demo access in June on all platforms, excluding Switch. Moreover, upon pre-ordering, players will get access to the “Wireframe Tony” shader at launch. On the other hand, pre-ordering Digital Deluxe and Collector’s Editions gives early access to the full game on July 8, three days before the official launch.
