Well, the end of June has finally arrived. This month was not exactly what I was expecting. June is the first month of summer, an exciting time to get outside and soak the sun.
This year, I spent about half of it sick as a dog with stupid COVID-19 and we had a massive wildfire thanks to human negligence. On the bright side, monsoons have arrived early this year which has made this last week or so quite lovely.
Hopefully monsoons continue into July and beyond as we could use all the moisture we can get. Rain rain come again stay again another day!
Alright, let’s take a look at today’s Wordle! Scroll down for today’s hint and answer or read on for a brief Wordle primer.
How To Play Wordle
To get started at Wordle, just remember you don’t need to download an app from the App Store or Google Play. Wordle is a browser-based game and can only be played by visiting its official homepage at the New York Times website (where it’s free and not stuck behind a paywall). There are imitators and other games calling themselves Wordle but they are copycats and frauds.
There are also a bunch of fun spinoffs on the popular puzzle game, some of which I’ve written about previously.
To play Wordle you simply need to guess. You get six guesses to get to the correct answer. Each guess must be a five-letter word. If you guess a correct letter it will show up in a green box if it’s in the correct spot and a yellow box if it’s the right letter in the wrong spot. If it’s wrong, it will show up in a grey box.
Using this information you can inform further guesses, eliminating letters and narrowing down your options. A healthy vocabulary certainly doesn’t hurt. I’ve written a tips & tricks guide to help you with this and other puzzle games.
Today’s Wordle #376 Hint & Answer
Warning! Warning! Warning! Spoilers! Spoilers! Spoilers!
Here’s the hint: A piece of furniture used to store things.
And the answer is . . . .
I think this is the first time in quite a while that I’ve gotten the daily Wordle in three guesses. For whatever reason I seem to be wavering between four and five each day, unable to nab any in two or three.
Today’s was a stroke of luck to some degree. My first guess only got me a ‘T’ in yellow but my second guess—watch—lined up the last three letters all in green.
Granted, lots and lots of words end with tch but having already eliminated the ‘O’ and the ‘E’ and the ‘A’ at this point helped a lot. No reason to guess fetch or batch or botch or catch at this point. The only vowels left were ‘I’ and ‘U.’
Granted, getting hutch was lucky. I could just as easily guessed hitch or ditch. Really, tons and tons of possibilities.
