Today’s Wordle #709 Hints, Clues And Answer For Monday, May 29th

The last Monday of May has arrived. Memorial Day here in the United States. The holiday was originally called Decoration Day and has been celebrated since 1868 to honor and mourn the U.S. military personnel who died while serving this country. Up until 1970, it was celebrated on May 30th. Now, it takes place on the last Monday of the month, wherever that falls.

It’s a good day to get outside, grill up some burgers (or veggie burgers) and hang out with friends and family. My plan is to go on a long hike with my three wild doggies, cook something good out on the grill and hang with my kiddos. Nothing fancy.

What are your plans for the holiday? Let me know on Twitter or Facebook.

Alright, let’s do this Wordle!

Wordle Bot Analysis

After I complete a Wordle I always head over to check in with Wordle Bot to see how I scored, both in terms of each individual guess and whether or not I outsmarted the Bot.

This went surprisingly well given how bad my opening guess was. 495 words remained after cairn. After shout, that number was whittled down to just 7. The very first word that came to mind after that was house but I had already used the ‘H’ and the next word that popped into my head was mouse and I went with it. For the win! Huzzah!

Today’s Score: I get 1 point for guessing in three and 0 points for tying Wordle Bot, for a grand total of 1 point! Huzzah again!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “mouse” has an interesting etymology. It originated from the Old English word “mus,” which can be traced back to the Proto-Germanic word “*musǭ.” This term is believed to have its roots in the Proto-Indo-European word “*mūs,” meaning “mouse” or “rat.”

The word “mouse” has been used to refer to small rodents since ancient times. It is worth noting that the term has been applied to various similar animals in different languages. In some cases, the word “mouse” has been used more broadly to describe small, quick mammals in general.

The computer device known as a “mouse” was named after its resemblance to the small rodent. This term was coined in the mid-20th century when Douglas Engelbart and his team developed the device as part of their work on human-computer interaction. The name “mouse” stuck due to its appearance, with the device having a cord that resembled a tail and the user manipulating it similarly to how one might handle a small rodent.
