It’s Wordle Wednesday, folks! That means that we not only have a Wordle to solve, we also have a riddle.

Today’s Riddle: You see a boat filled with people. It has not sunk, but when you look again you don’t see a single person on the boat. Why?

I’ll post the answer in tomorrow’s guide, so be sure to follow me here on this blog. If you think you know it, shoot me a message on Twitter or Facebook.

Wordle Bot Analysis

After I complete a Wordle I always head over to check in with Wordle Bot to see how I scored, both in terms of each individual guess and whether or not I outsmarted the Bot.

Today was a little sad. My opening guess ended up being quite good, with two yellow boxes and some eliminated vowels. Only 26 words remained after clout. I narrowed that down to two with witch, though in retrospect I wish I’d guessed something with an ‘E’ in it. Wordle Bot suggested hater, but haters gonna hate.

I was down to two choices: itchy and ethic and I went with my gut. Alas, my gut was wrong. My gut is an idiot. Nobody should trust my gut. Fortunately, ethic wrapped things up in four.

My score today: Today was a bit of a wash, actually, which is rare. I got zero points for guessing in 4 and zero points for tying Wordle Bot for a grand total of zip, zilch, nada, zero. Oh well! (See rules below).

Today’s Wordle Etymology (Via ChatGPT)

The word “ethic” comes from the Greek word “ethos,” meaning “custom” or “character.” In ancient Greek philosophy, “ethos” was used to refer to the character or disposition of a person, especially as it relates to their moral behavior.

The term “ethics” as it is commonly used today first appeared in English in the 14th century, derived from the Old French word “ethique,” which was itself derived from the Latin “ethicus,” meaning “of or belonging to morals.” The Latin term, in turn, was derived from the Greek “ethikos,” which means “pertaining to character,” or “of or pertaining to morals.”

Over time, the term “ethics” has evolved to refer to the study of moral principles and values, as well as the rules of conduct that govern human behavior in society. Today, the term is used in a variety of contexts, including philosophy, law, medicine, business, and more.
