Monday, Monday, Monday. How the wheel of time turns. How it grinds and grates and smudges. Here we are again, back at the beginning. Seven day cycles. Cartwheeling through a dimension we can barely comprehend.
I’m tempted to quote Macbeth. Tomorrow and tomorrow creeps on this petty pace. It’s funny because my daughter is reading this play in her high school English class and it’s a big part of Barry’s first season on HBO, which I am rewatching as I watch the final season at the same time. It’s helpful since it’s been so many years between seasons.
In any case, it’s one of my favorite plays. I was Banquo when we put that play on in high school. It was my first role in any play. I was in 9th grade and hadn’t yet fancied myself an actor, but enjoyed theater and that play sealed the deal. I was hooked, both in awe of the older actors who played Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, and just high on the whole process. Costumes, makeup, the camaraderie of the rehearsal and performance. The stress of getting onstage in front of a live audience, remembering your lines, trying to somehow say them convincingly.
In any case, I look back on all of that fondly. Theater is good for the soul!
Okay, let’s do this Wordle!
How To Solve Today’s Wordle
The Hint: Shine.
The Clue: This word begins with a vowel.
The Answer:

Another lucky day for yours truly! Wordle Bot informed me after that my first guess, triad, was strong but unlucky today, leaving me with 297 remaining words. With just one letter in yellow, I opted for a second guess that would eliminate more common letters and test out the ‘A’ in a new box. Fortunately, my luck turned almost instantly.
Slake didn’t get me any green boxes, but now I had two yellows and 13 remaining solutions. I decided to go with the letters I had already accrued and test out ‘A’ in the first box, which I just suspected was more likely than in either second or fifth place. Lucky for me, I picked aglow and was (I admit) rather surprised when it all piled over in green.
My score today: Like yesterday, this was a nice little win for me. I got 1 point for guessing in 3 and 1 point for beating Wordle Bot, who took 4 tries to get the answer today. That’s a grand total of 2 points! Huzzah! (See rules below).
Today’s Wordle Etymology (Via ChatGPT)
The word “aglow” comes from the combination of the prefix “a-” meaning “on,” “in,” or “at,” and the Old English word “glów,” which means “to glow” or “to shine.” The term has been used in English since the early 19th century and is often used to describe a person or thing that is glowing with light or heat. The word “glow” itself can be traced back to the Old English word “glowan,” which means “to glow” or “to shine brightly.” The word has evolved over time and is commonly used in modern English to describe a bright, warm, or radiant light.
