Today’s Wordle #653 Hints, Clues And Answer For Monday, April 3rd

The first Monday of April is here. The first work week has descended upon us. Time to punch the clock, dearest Wordlers, but don’t punch it too hard. You might hurt your fingers.

I hope everyone had a lovely weekend. It’s finally warm(er) and sunny here, and the snow is melting, and the birds are chirping, but I woke up Saturday with a migraine and spent most of my day inside. That was fine. I got caught up on some TV.

I’m watching Season 4 of HBO’s masterpiece, Succession, which everyone needs to watch immediately. It has such juicy, awful, wonderful characters. I can’t get enough. I’m sad it’s ending so soon!

I’m also watching Season 2 of Showtime’s masterpiece, Yellowjackets, which may be the craziest, darkest, most twisted show I’ve ever seen. It’s wonderful and horrifying and I love it. This weekend’s episode was so messed up. Holy crap.

And I started binging the surprise Netflix hit, The Night Agent, which is perfectly fine but not anything special. I’m halfway through it and I enjoy the mystery and the characters, but it’s sort of a middling production all around. Not bad, not great. Just fine. I’ll keep watching because I do love thrillers, but this is no Slow Horses.

Are you watching anything awesome that I should check out? If so, Let me know on Twitter or Facebook. Alright, Wordle time!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: In nature, not the beasts.

The Clue: This word ends with a vowel.

The Answer:

So yeah, I guessed feast because of Yellowjackets. That’s all I’ll say about that. It turned out to be an excellent opener for today’s Wordle, leaving me with just 12 words to choose from. I didn’t know that at the time, of course—I only see this Wordle Bot data after the fact—but I had a good feeling that a green ‘F’ and a yellow ‘A’ would be pretty easy to solve.

I guessed fable next because I’m really looking forward to the new Fable Xbox game, though I know it’s not coming out anytime soon. Also, it’s just a lovely word. If you think about it, a lot of ‘F’ words are quite lovely. Feast, fable, flame, foul and so forth.

In any case, the first word that flew into my brain at this point was flora and sure enough, that was the Wordle! Huzzah! The other two options, I later learned, were final and focal, but let’s face it. Flora is more fun.

I tied Wordle Bot who went all poetic with slate / agora / flora. Agora-flora. It rhymes. That means 1 point for guessing in three and zero for tying the Bot. Not quite as good as Saturday’s hole in one, alas, but we can’t always get it that quick!

Take care, my partners in puzzling!

Today’s Wordle Etymology (Via ChatGPT)

The word “flora” comes from the Latin noun “flora,” which means “goddess of flowers” or “flowers” in general. Flora was the Roman goddess of flowers, fertility, and spring. The word was later used in botanical contexts to refer to the collective plant life of a region or time period. The term was first used in its modern sense by the Swedish botanist Carl Linnaeus in the 18th century, when he named his famous work on plant classification “Systema Naturae” and used the term “flora” to refer to the plants of a particular region.
