Sunday is over. The weekend is behind us. But it’s Spring Break which means that theoretically—if sleep is on my side—I can sleep in every morning this week! Huzzah! Nothing helps more with puzzle-solving than a clear mind, and sleep and exercise are the most important things when it comes to clear thinking.
I have no plans for Spring Break this year other than that. Catch up on sleep, hang out with my kids, solve Wordles, get a bunch of writing done, and cheer from the sidelines as the snow melts. Farewell, winter! Spring is coming!
Now, the only winter I’m looking forward to is The Winds Of Winter, George R.R. Martin’s long-awaited sixth book in his A Song Of Ice And Fire saga upon which HBO based Game Of Thrones. Speaking of HBO adaptations, The Last Of Us just wrapped its first season with a truly phenomenal finale. Read my review here.
In any case, we’re here for Wordle so let’s do this!
How To Solve Today’s Wordle
The Hint: My poor guessing on this word is all your fault!
The Clue: There are more consonants than vowels in this word.
The Answer (Spoilers):

Well this one was a bit of a bummer, but sometimes they just go this way. Sometimes there’s not much you can do about it, especially when you find yourself with final possible choices that only vary by one letter.
Great was fine—not great!—and left me with 183 possible solutions. No big deal. I’ll pair great with shape and some wishful thinking and voila! we’re down to just 14. I knew I had to winnow that number down a lot, so I guessed flunk to eliminate that final vowel and a few other possible answers, but this still left me with four options. I could think of three—clade was another but it eluded me, shockingly—and figured at this point I’d just have to guess one at a time. If it took me all three, I’d still get it in six. Blade was wrong, so I had to choose between blame and blaze and thankfully I chose correctly.
Still, that’s -2 for guessing in five and -1 for losing to Wordle Bot (who got it in three with a healthy dose of luck) for a grand total of -3, one of my worst scores in a very long time. Boo to that!
Have a lovely Monday, dearest Wordlers. If you’re on Spring Break, have a wonderful holiday!
