Today’s Wordle #589 Hint, Clues And Answer For Sunday, January 29th

It’s Sunday! Time to be lazy and do nothing. Well, we’re driving up from Phoenix today after some family reunion time for my aunt’s 70th birthday, but after that—and probably some more work and a bit of cleaning—then it’s time to be lazy.

The Last Of Us is airing on HBO tonight. If you’re not watching the show yet it’s very good and you really need to give it a shot if you like great writing, scary zombies and—in the case of tonight’s episode—brilliant character drama.

In any case, before you watch that you probably need to solve today’s Wordle. I have a hint and a clue below (and the answer and some discussion of my guessing game below that). Here we go!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle w/Spoilers

The Hint: Suspicious. It stinks.

The Clue: There are more consonants than vowels in this word.

My opening guess for today’s word was the worst I’ve had in weeks, but that didn’t stop me from turning lemons into lemonade today. Bloat is often something you don’t want, whether in your budget or your stomach, and today I regret picking it. 532 remaining solutions remained—not so lucky.

Still, you can pivot in this game, and pivot I did. Spire slashed that number to just 7, leaving me with still too many choices. I was really torn between ficus and fishy but the latter was my first instinct and I just went with it. Wordle Bot later assured me that this is exactly the word he would have picked, so that’s nice.

Speaking of the Bot, he took four guesses today, guessing slate / croup / whisk / fishy, which means I get 0 points for guessing in 3 and 1 point for beating the Bot for a grand total of 1 huzzah. Huzzah!
