How to solve today’s Wordle.
Thank all that is good and holy, it’s Friday at last! Well, I’m thanking the good and holy for all of you who work a Monday-Friday job, hitting the office at 9 and punching out at 5 o’clock sharp. I just work every day and it doesn’t really matter when. I work early in the morning or late in the evening or anywhere in-between. I work every day of the week and I work on vacation. I work when I’m playing and I play when I’m working. All the lines are blurred.
That’s okay! If you love what you do, you never really feel like it’s work, though I admit to frequent bouts of writer’s block (typically associated with some sort of mid-life or existential crisis, but that’s neither here nor there). The problem with writing for a living is you have to have something worthwhile to say, and sometimes you just . . . don’t. C’est la vie.
It’s such times that a knack for rambling or ranting, griping or gushing, comes in handy. And it never hurts to be able to spin up a good segue.

Today’s Wordle Solution
Yesterday’s word was very similar to this one, ending in a ‘Y’ and containing a double letter, though yesterday’s was also slightly less common. The other similarity? Well, for me it also took five guesses. And I made a similar mistake, guessing the green box too much instead of mixing things up and eliminating more potential letters earlier on.
This is one reason my progression was so slow. 146 remaining possible solutions after my first guess—house—should have dropped much lower than 76. But I left the ‘O’ in when I guessed topic and I should have been shooting for five new possible letters. Rainy would have been as much better guess!
Woman got me down to just 6, which is okay—but also a lot to narrow down when you’re already three deep in guesses. Wordy (which would be a very fitting Wordle answer!) lopped that number down to one, but at this point I was going to get it in 5 no matter what. So worry for the win, and I’m sad to report that my score today is not so wonderful. At least yesterday the Bot and I tied. Today, he beat me 4 to 5. That’s -1 for losing to Wordle Bot and -2 for guessing in 5 for a grand total of -3, which also happens to be my worst score since I started this little competition. Drat and tarnation! No huzzahs for me!
