Hey look, it’s Friday already! That’s pretty awesome. I’m ready for a weekend, even though I usually work every day of the week. I suppose I get to sleep in on weekends, which I enjoy, since I don’t have to take kids to school (at dawn, these days, in the frosty air, hypothetical roosters crowing in the distance).
I’m still not sure why they start school so early. Or really why they start anything so early. Who came up with the 9 to 5 anyways? Why does my son’s middle school kick off first period at 7:40 am? These are inhumane times for those of us who don’t go to sleep early and like sleeping in at least a little bit. I don’t sleep late like some people, but I enjoy not getting out of bed until 9 or 9:30. I prefer it to shivering in the cold at 7:15 am to take my kid to school.
I’m not complaining. I’m griping. There’s a difference. Complaining implies it’s a big deal and you want something done about it. Griping is just therapy. I’m using this column—and you, dearest Wordlers—as my therapists. Everybody needs to gripe sometimes. Griping is healthy. I know they’re never going to start school at 10am. That’s fine. I know they won’t listen to my other notions—more play and outside time, no math until later in life, etc.—and I’m okay with that, too.
What I’m not okay with is not doing this Wordle. So let’s do this thing!
How To Solve Today’s Wordle (Spoilers Beware!)
The Hint: Rob Zombie says it’s more [ ] than [ ].
The Clue: There are more consonants than vowels in this word.
The Answer:
Ha! Bwahahahaha! Not only am I laughing maniacally because I defeated the Bot—something humans in most sci-fi movies are incapable of!—today my win was also ironic. Because I am a human and Wordle Bot is but a mere pretender. I shudder to think losing on today’s word, defeated by an artificial intelligence—even one so evil and diabolical as Wordle Bot.
At the same time, I am more than a little shocked that I got this one in just two guesses. It was definitely lucky. I mean, yeah, clearly some serious Wordle and thematic skill went into this W but luck played its own small role.
Wound was a good starting guess, leaving me with 62 remaining possibilities. That’s good but not great. With that many, getting it on the next guess is almost entirely impossible. Unless, of course, you extrapolate human from wound, because humans can be wounded. Or, uh, you just move the ‘U’ over and think of human entirely by chance because it’s the first word that comes to mind with the ‘U’ in the second slot.
Which, okay, that was me. I wasn’t trying to be thematic and I just got very, very lucky. The thing is, I almost went a totally different route with spite, just to guess a couple new vowels. Then I thought, nah, let’s just try using these letters in new boxes and boy am I glad I did! Huzzah!
That’s +2 for getting it in two and +1 for beating Wordle Bot for a big, fat shiny 3 score. Huzzah and a hip hip hooray!
Have a lovely day, dearest humans. Be excellent to each other!
