This afternoon, Autumn ends and Winter officially begins. Send the white ravens, Samwell Tarly.
It’s kind of odd where I live. We’ve just had one of the coldest stretches I can remember in recent memory (for December, at least) and today things start to thaw out a bit. All the snow will melt just in time for Christmas.
That’s a bit of a shame. I always love a white Christmas. At the same time, I’m tired of the cold and ready for a bit more warmth. Maybe we’ll get a surprise snowfall just in time! (It’s all I want for Christmas, Santa, which is a lot less than that chick from the Santa Baby song!)
Okay, let’s do the first Wordle of Winter shall we?
Today’s Winter Wordle Solution (with spoilers!)
The Hint: Not the sun.
The Clue: There are fewer vowels than consonants in this word.
The Answer:
I was actually a bit nervous with my opening guess today because I realized after the fact that it had two R’s in it. I didn’t mean to do that! I was thinking of words that had to do with winter but kept drawing blanks or only coming up with words like frozen which are six letters. Freeze is also six. Then I thought fries which isn’t bad and then I thought friar which for whatever reason I liked better.
It worked out really well! With the ‘AR’ in green right off the bat, I started realizing I had a lot of possible solutions still left (I didn’t realize it was only 15, but that’s still a lot). With words like solar, lunar, polar, spear, sugar etc. all possibilities, I guessed something that would eliminate at least a few. Plush would take care of several and if the ‘U’ was wrong, I could try something else. Honestly, I thought the ‘E’ or the ‘O’ more likely, but plush was the first word I came up with that had a bunch of the consonants I needed to eliminate.
Another lucky guess, it turns out, as I knew right away that it had to be lunar when both the ‘L’ and ‘U’ showed up in yellow. I was right! Huzzah!
Wordle Bot took four guesses, but I won’t gloat. He guessed slate / rally / moral / lunar which is a perfectly fine batch of guesses. Just not quite as fine as mine . . . .
