Today’s Wordle #541 Hints, Clues And Answer For Monday, December 12th

Another day, another Wordle. Another Monday, to be precise. A snowy one, too. Snow has been in the forecast and if we’re lucky, it’ll stay there so we can have a much-needed white Christmas.

As we gallop toward the New Year and 2023, I can’t help but think back on last December and all the massive ways my life has changed since then. 2022 has gone by in a blur, and one of my New Year’s resolutions is to live just a tad bit more deliberately. Not let things sweep past so quickly. Life is precious and time is fleeting.

Pretty soon—sometime in early-to-mid January—we’ll arrive at the anniversary of this column. I will have been writing this diary dressed up as a Wordle Guide (or is it the other way around?) for a whole year. I hope to continue for years to come, though that depends on whether or not people keep playing.

I also need to branch out, find some other puzzle games to keep my wits sharp. Lord knows they’ve grown a bit dull with age!

In any case, let’s do Wordle #541, shall we? It’s a good one today.

How To Solve Today’s Wordle (spoilers ahead!)

The Hint: Typically an important step in getting a job.

The Clue: This word has a double letter in it.

The Answer:

I keep half-winning at these lately. Sure, four isn’t bad by any means, but Wordle Bot got this one in three—again! I don’t like losing to the Bot! He’s my arch-nemesis and I’m pretty sure he’s cheating!

My opening guess, while great, was not great. 224 remaining solutions is not the worst I’ve seen but it’s far from the best.

Coils reduced that further to just 9, which is okay but not ideal. Thankfully, I narrowed the field to just on with amply. From here, the right answer was glaringly obvious: Apply.

Had I just applied myself a tiny bit more, I would have gotten this in three, also! Maybe.
