It’s been quite the eventful October, dearest Wordlers. I’m almost over this damnable cold, though this residual cough remains. It is frustrating and exhausting.
The highlight of October for me so far was a fun outing I took my kids to. We saw the band Ripe perform live on Wednesday night and it was an absolute blast, sick or no. These guys have a great sound and a ton of energy. It’s the kind of music you can’t help but dance to, and they put on a great show (though it was far from sold out, unfortunately—such is Wednesday night, I suppose).
The opening band was Windser and they also did a terrific job. I’d never heard of them before but I really dig their sound. It’s not as lively as Ripe, but still a lot of fun. They did a great cover of Chris Isaak’s Wicked Game, which is one of my favorite songs.
In any case, I love me some live music. It was one of many downsides to the pandemic. We shut everything down and lost a bit of what makes us all human in the process, unfortunately. Thank Apollo that we’re back at it again. Have you seen any good shows lately? Or plays? Live performances of some kind? If so, let me know on Twitter or Facebook.
Let’s do this Wordle now!
Today’s Wordle Solution (Spoilers!)
The Hint: On a trip to this place, Sublime tells us “It smelled like Lou-dog inside the van.”
The Clue: This word ends with a vowel.
The Answer:
Gah, five! FIVE!
This is not good. My rival—that bastard, Wordle Bot—got it in three using slate / groin to land on grove. I think he was cheating!
My opening guess was, admittedly, not quite as good as his (which got Wordle Bot a green E). I had a whopping 389 potential words remaining. Yikes.
Chore narrowed the field considerably, though not as much as groin would have. From here I probably should have guessed something with more potential letters in it rather than trying to fit the ones I had in the right boxes. Wordle Bot says I should have used pivot which isn’t a bad idea.
Still, I doubled down on my non-strategy with grope (gosh, combining my words with Wordle Bot’s puts us in questionable territory . . . .). Fortunately, this left me with just one final word to choose and I came to it quickly enough.
Grove for the win! We took this trip to Garden Grove, smelled like Lou dog inside the van, oh yeah. This ain’t no funky reggae party. Five dollars at the door . . . .
