Tina Turner Posthumously Earns A New Hit Song

Years after her passing, Tina Turner remains a beloved superstar, one recognized almost as much for her perseverance and strength as for her music. Fans continue to celebrate her catalog in all kinds of ways, sometimes focusing on one beloved compilation, or a particular full-length that feels especially meaningful. But thanks to Record Store Day, the icon returns to the spotlight with a hit single — and she even claims a new top 40 smash on more than one chart in the United Kingdom this frame.

“It’s Only Love” is a Charting Hit Again

Turner’s duet with Bryan Adams, “It’s Only Love,” appears as a winner on multiple U.K. charts this frame. The rock duet launches at No. 27 on both the Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles charts, many years after it was first unveiled.

The song also appears on a broader ranking, the Official Singles Sales chart, which includes all formats and is not limited by genre or platform. “It’s Only Love” kicks off its initial run on that tally at No. 50.

Bryan Adams and Tina Turner for Record Store Day

Adams is one of dozens of artists who joined in on the fun for Record Store Day 2025, a global initiative designed to bring fans back into independent music stores. As part of the celebration, many artists release either brand new tracks or reissue favorites on exclusive, collectible formats.

For his part, Adams re-released “It’s Only Love” on a seven-inch vinyl. The special edition of the cut features two mixes: a rock-forward take, while the other — titled the “Midnight Mix” — is stripped back to highlight Turner’s powerhouse vocals.

Tina Turner’s Classic Duet Turns 40

“It’s Only Love” was originally released in 1985, almost exactly 40 years ago. The track served as one of the singles from Adams’s album Reckless, which helped define the sound of mid-’80s rock. The hard-charging cut originally peaked at No. 29 on the Official Singles chart in the U.K. and rose even higher in the U.S., perching at No. 15 on the Hot 100.

The duet also earned Turner and Adams a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal. That honor ultimately went to Dire Straits, but the nod itself was another sign of how huge the track was at the time.

Tina Turner Adds Another Posthumous Win

This latest hit gives Turner her twelfth placement on the Official Singles Sales chart. By comparison, Adams has reached that tally only five times. On the Official Physical Singles chart, however, he holds the edge, with 18 successes, while Turner hits a new milestone with her tenth showing, this one arriving posthumously.
