Tiger Woods withdrew from the Masters tournament because of a foot injury, he announced on Sunday, as the golf world speculated the professional contest could be the last green jacket competition of the 47-year-old billionaire golfer’s career.

Woods tweeted Sunday he withdrew from the Masters ahead of the third round “due to reaggravating my plantar fasciitis,” a condition that causes pain near the heel of the foot.
The golfer thanked his fans and the Masters, “who have shown me so much love and support.”
Woods was limping while playing in the tournament on Saturday, when he finished the second round with a score of 73, over the par of 72.
Woods also withdrew from the PGA Championship in May 2022.

Woods was badly injured in a February 2021 car crash, when a vehicle he was driving struck a curb and rolled over. Woods nearly lost his right leg because of injuries he sustained from the accident, and underwent significant emergency surgery to repair the limb. During his three-decade long golf career, Woods has also undergone multiple surgeries to his back. Woods played in the 2022 Masters, and told reporters before the tournament he wasn’t worried about his golfing abilities, but his capacity to walk 72 holes. He finished the tournament with a score of 13-over-par and in 47th place, the worst Masters of his career. He has played in 25 Masters.
