After almost a year of back-to-back Turkish series at 10 pm, Telemundo is once again using the timeslot for one of its original productions. Juegos de Mentiras (Game of Lies), featuring an internationally renowned cast, kicks off today, replacing Turkish saga Love and Betrayal.
The thriller stars Arap Bethke (Mujer de Nadie, Buscando a Frida) as César Ferrer, a seemingly happily married man, whose wife Adriana, portrayed by María Elisa Camargo (Bajo el Mismo Cielo, En Otra Piel), goes missing. Following her disappearance, and as clues arise pointing to foul play, César becomes the main suspect in her possible murder. Determined to find the truth and prevent his eight-year-old daughter from being taken away from him, he takes the investigation into his own hands. As he searches for his wife, he discovers she secretly led a double life. As the story unfolds, almost everyone becomes a suspect, with each of the characters appearing to have reasons to get rid of her.
Juego de Mentiras also features Altair Jarabo (Corazón Guerrero), Rodrigo Guirao (Corazón Guerrero, Rubí) and longtime Mexican telenovela stars Cynthia Klitbo (Mujer de Nadie, La Casa en la Playa) and Eduardo Yáñez (Falsa Identidad, Amores Verdaderos). The supporting cast includes former Miss Universe Alicia Machado, Pepe Gámez, Alberto Casanova, Patricio Gallardo, Gabriela Vergara, Beatriz Valdés, María Laura Quintero and Bárbara Garófalo, with special participation by Aylín Mújica.
The 10 pm slot was previously the home to Telemundo’s top super series, including La Reina del Sur and El Señor de los Cielos, both of which were moved to 9 pm for their most recent seasons. In between consecutive second-run Turkish soaps, the network brought back original Pasión de Gavilanes for a second season, 20 years after its original run.
Juego de Mentiras is written by Sebastián Arrau, directed by Eduardo Ripari, Ricardo Schwarz, Uandari Gómez and produced by Telemundo Global Studios. The approximately 80-episode series is set in the city of Los Angeles and San Clemente and filmed in 97 different locations throughout the greater Miami area, as well as Telemundo Center studios soundstages. Karen Barroeta, Ximena Cantuarias, Elizabeth Suárez and Rafael Urióstegui are executive producers.
