Here are the top ten movies and TV shows on Netflix
July 15: Top 10 Movies on Netflix
- The Sea Beast
- 12 Strong
- Sing 2
- The Girl in the Picture
- CHiPS
- Mean Girls
- The Man from Toronto
- Barefoot
- Wanted
- The Dark Knight Rises
The Sea Beast has now secured itself into the first-place position for the third day straight on the Netflix movie charts. While the animated film’s start was slow on the U.S. charts—as it finished in third place on Saturday and in second place on Monday and Tuesday—The Sea Beast had a much stronger showing overseas. Last week, it ranked as the #1 movie on the global charts. And now it seems to be catching up in the United States.
Meanwhile, The Girl in the Picture—the movie that ranked #1 during The Sea Beast’s slow start—has sunk all the way down to the fourth-place position. This is by far its worst ranking yet, as it now sits behind 12 Strong and Sing 2. While true crime documentaries normally fair well on Netflix, their drop-off is usually pretty rapid. So don’t expect this one to stay on the Top 10 for much longer.
After two days in fourth place—easily its worst showing to date—Sing 2 jumped back up to the #3 spot. It’s not surprising to see this movie continue to perform well, as Sing 2 remained the #1 movie in the U.S. for three weeks straight. But it didn’t have enough strength to power past 12 Strong, which rose to its highest placing yet in four days with second place.
The only new entry today was CHiPS, which premiered in the fifth-place spot. Behind that film was Mean Girls, which has now been on the charts for ten days, and The Man from Toronto, which showcased the worst performance yet in its 20 days on Netflix with seventh place.
Rounding out the bottom of the Top 10 is Barefoot (which has now been on the charts for two days), Wanted (eight days), and The Dark Knight Rises (24 days).
July 15: Top 10 Shows on Netflix
- Stranger Things
- Resident Evil
- Alone
- D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?!
- The Umbrella Academy
- Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight
- All American: Homecoming
- The Flash
- How to Change Your Mind
- Boo, Bitch
The fun continues for Stranger Things, a show whose fourth season has been the most highly viewed Netflix show in the world for six of the seven weeks its been available. Not only has the show now amassed 1.45 billion hours of watch time on a global scale, which is second all-time behind Squid Game, but Stranger Things has now been the #1 program in the U.S. for 46 out of 54 days of Top 10 eligibility.
In total, that means Stranger Things has been on the Top 10 charts for 54 days. That total is slowly creeping its way towards the shared record of 79 days set by The Queen’s Gambit and Squid Game. Considering that Stranger Things has continued to dominate this late into its run, the show’s fourth season will likely set the new record in 26 days.
There have been several new additions to the Top 10 over the past two days, including Resident Evil (which finished in second place today), D.B. Cooper: Where Are You?! (a show that’s enjoying its second day on the Top 10), Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight (sixth place today) and All American: Homecoming (seventh place).
It looks as though that last show has replaced All American, which had spent 44 consecutive days on the Top 10. That total falls just short of the program’s 2021 performance when it remained on the charts for 46 days. During those 90 days, All American only claimed the #1 spot for three days. Unfortunately, the show consistently lost out to juggernaut programs like Stranger Things, Manifest, and Outer Banks.
The other top-performing shows were Alone, which is still going strong in its 11th day with a third-place showing, and The Umbrella Academy, which finished in its worst position yet at #5 after 23 days on the charts. During the latter show’s massive 43-day run in 2020, The Umbrella Academy didn’t fall to fifth place until 27 days into its run.
Elsewhere, The Flash saw its worst ranking yet in 2022 after eight days on the charts, and Boo, Bitch fell to the bottom of the list in its seventh day. That just leaves How to Change Your Mind, which has now been on the Top 10 for six days.
