Here are the top ten movies and TV shows on NetflixNFLX
in the United States for August 12, 2022. Each day, I will update this list and observe the trends that change from day to day, week to week.

July 15: Top 10 Movies on Netflix

With yet another first-place finish, Uncharted earns the rare distinction of becoming a non-Netflix film to earn a perfect week on the Top 10 charts. A “perfect week” occurs when a movie spends seven consecutive days in the #1 position. The only other non-Netflix movie to pull that off in 2022 was Blade Runner 2049 back in late March/early April.

Uncharted was able to thwart the previous #1 movie, Purple Hearts—a movie that, at this point, has arguably proven itself to be more successful than the $200 Ryan Gosling action film The Gray Man. Purple Hearts has spent all 14 of its days on the Netflix charts in either the #1 or #2 position, while The Gray Man has fallen as low as eighth place after just 18 days. Purple Hearts spent every day in second place this week.

The box office bomb The Informer was able to secure the third-place spot for four of its five days on Netflix, while several other films—such as Carter, Flight, The Nice Guys, Wedding Season, and The Age of Adaline—bounced around the rankings throughout the week.

The biggest story this week belonged to Sing 2, which has now spent 51 consecutive days on the Top 10 charts. That’s now tied for the fifth-longest streak ever, and within a week the movie could move into third place. The longest streak belongs to We Can Be Heroes at 66 days.

Another perfect week was achieved over on the charts for Top 10 Shows, as The Sandman became one of the rare shows to spend the first seven days of its first season in the #1 spot. Only three other shows have accomplished that feat in 2022: Inventing Anna, The Ultimatum: Marry or Move On, and The Lincoln Lawyer.

Elsewhere, various other shows continued to make their mark—which meant Stranger Things and Virgin River were finally knocked down from the top two spots. Still, each show has continued to remain strong—especially Stranger Things, which has now extended its Top 10 streak record to 80 days. Meanwhile, Virgin River achieved its 98th lifetime appearance on the Top 10, which is the fifth-most of any adult program on Netflix.

Locke & Key couldn’t quite crack the #1 position, but the show did have its best day ever today with a second-place finish. Before today, the highest position the show ever achieved was third place back in October 2021. We’ll see if the show can disrupt The Sandman’s streak and beat out Never Have I Ever’s third season this upcoming weekend.

Other new shows on the rankings this week include I Just Killed My Dad (which reached second place twice), Indian Matchmaking (which reached a week-high seventh place today), Riverdale (which has now spent a lifetime total of 47 days on the Top 10 charts), and Instant Dream Home (which made its Top 10 debut today).
