The Texas Rangers are pounding the ball with an offense that leads Major League Baseball in several categories.

To this scout, the Texas Rangers don’t receive enough credit for the incredible offense they have been producing in Major League Baseball.

According to MLB.com. at the start of play June 8, the Rangers lead all of baseball with a .277 batting average. The Tampa Bay Rays and Toronto Blue Jays are a distant second at .264.

The average MLB batting average is hovering around .247, which is up from .243 last season.

In the category that is probably most important, the Rangers lead all of baseball in runs scored. Their 386 runs lead the Rays by 20.

The Rangers rank No. 7 in MLB in home runs. They have hit 79. By comparison, the Rays lead all of baseball with 107 homers.

The Rangers offensive stats are remarkable. To date, they have that .277 batting average, a .344 on-base percentage, a .458 slugging percentage, and a slugging plus on-base percentage of .802.

The Rangers are second only to Tampa Bay, which has a slugging plus on-base percentage of .816, the best in baseball.

Having played 61 games, the Rangers have played three fewer games than the Rays. That makes their offensive stats even more impressive.

Oh, and by the way, not to be out done by the offense, the Rangers pitching staff has done very well. They are among the league leaders in many categories.

And, they just learned they will be without ace starter Jacob deGrom. It has been announced deGrom will undergo Tommy John surgery.

But for this writer, the Rangers offense is king.

Summary:

The Rangers lead the American League West with a record of 40-21, which puts them 4.5 games ahead of the Houston Astros.

The team is an offensive machine so far this season.

As of the start of play June 9, the Rangers remain a very formidable team in the American League. The dynamic offense is very to slow down.

The Rangers should be well represented at the All Star Game in Seattle this July.
