The Tell-Tale Clue That Shows Lionel Messi Is Returning To FC Barcelona

Lionel Messi’s children have been enrolled at their former school in Catalonia this week, in an indicator that their seven-time Ballon d’Or-winning father is set to return to FC Barcelona this summer, Mas Que Pelotas has reported.

The popular YouTube channel’s head Adrian Sanchez shared news of the development on Tuesday evening, and stated that Messi’s three sons have not had their enrollment at their current school in Paris renewed either.

Children in Barcelona return to school on September 8 this year after breaking up for lengthy holidays around June 22. Eight days later on June 30, Messi becomes a free agent again when the two-year contract he signed with Paris Saint Germain in 2021 expires.

With each passing week, it appears more evident that Messi has no intention to renew terms with the Qatari-backed giants amid confirmed talks with former club Barca as revealed by the Catalans’ vice president Rafa Yuste.

At the weekend, president Joan Laporta also appeared to affirm that Messi will return to Camp Nou, and transfer market expert Gerard Romero reported that La Liga president Javier Tebas believes Barca have already agreed a deal with Messi to don Blaugrana once more.

On Wednesday morning, Mundo Deportivo reports that Messi will act as a new “economic lever” if he re-joins his boyhood outfit.

Barca want Messi to sign for two years according to the daily newspaper, and believe that their former number ’10’ can account for 25-30% of total revenue at a time when the club is set to lose up to €100 million ($109.6 million) for their temporary switch to the Montjuic Stadium next term as reported by Relevo.

Mundo Deportivo contacted sources from the board of Laporta’s predecessor Josep Bartomeu, who claimed that Messi brought €250-300 million ($274-329 million) to the club in terms of merchandising, ticketing and sponsorship revenue. His impact was widespread across social media, as tourists flocked to Barcelona to catch a glimpse of the player that many consider the best of all time.

Whether they will do this once more from August onwards remains to be seen, but Messi’s three sons already being enrolled at their former school for the 2023/2024 academic year is a good indicator that the reigning World Cup champion will play in La Liga in the 2023/2024 season.
