The 10 Best Movies Added To Netflix In January 2023

Of all the streaming platforms, NetflixNFLX
is by far the most active. Almost every day, the world’s most viral streaming service adds lots and lots of new movies to its digital library. And this past week was no different.

Which makes choosing a movie…well. Difficult. But hopefully I can help. I scoured through every new movie that’s new to Netflix so far in January—updated with movies that were added this week—and picked out the ten best options. In this article, I’ll go through each one of them.

The Raid 2: Berandal

After surviving a bloody fight with powerful gangsters, rookie Jakarta cop Rama thinks he can resume a normal life. However, his exploits during that fateful incident have attracted the attention of criminals even more deadly than the last. His family at risk, Rama has no choice but to go under cover. He gets himself thrown in prison, where he befriends the son of a prominent crime kingpin. Rama must lay his own life on the line to finally destroy the criminal empire.

After many years of marriage, Pete is the sole male in a household that includes his wife, Debbie, and two young daughters. As Pete struggles to keep his record label afloat, he and Debbie navigate a three-week course of sex and romance, career victories and financial hardships, aging parents and maturing children. They’ll have to learn to forgive, forget and enjoy the rest of their lives — before they kill each other.

Scott Pilgrim vs. the World

As bass guitarist for a garage-rock band, Scott Pilgrim has never had trouble getting a girlfriend; usually, the problem is getting rid of them. But when Ramona Flowers skates into his heart, he finds she has the most troublesome baggage of all: an army of ex-boyfriends who will stop at nothing to eliminate him from her list of suitors.

Reservoir Dogs

Six criminals with pseudonyms, and each strangers to one another, are hired to carry out a robbery. The heist is ambushed by police and the gang are forced to shoot their way out. At their warehouse rendezvous, the survivors, realising that they were set up, try to find the traitor in their midst.

Closer

Alice, an American stripper who has moved to London, meets Dan on the street. While looking at him, a taxi hits her. After taking her to the hospital, Dan begins dating Alice. A year later, Dan — who has written a novel about Alice — is bored. He flirts with photographer Anna. Pretending to be her in a chat room, he leads dermatologist Larry to an accidental meeting with Anna. As the years pass, both relationships disintegrate.

Forrest Gump

Slow-witted Forrest Gump has never thought of himself as disadvantaged, and thanks to his supportive mother, he leads anything but a restricted life. Whether dominating on the gridiron as a college football star, fighting in Vietnam or captaining a shrimp boat, Forrest inspires people with his childlike optimism. But one person Forrest cares about most may be the most difficult to save — his childhood love, the sweet but troubled Jenny.

The Conjuring

In 1970, paranormal investigators and demonologists Lorraine and Ed Warren are summoned to the home of Carolyn and Roger Perron. The Perrons and their five daughters have recently moved into a secluded farmhouse, where a supernatural presence has made itself known. Though the manifestations are relatively benign at first, events soon escalate in horrifying fashion, especially after the Warrens discover the house’s macabre history.

Jerry Maguire

When slick sports agent Jerry Maguire has a crisis of conscience, he pens a heartfelt company-wide memo that promptly gets him fired. Desperate to hang on to the athletes that he represents, Jerry starts his own management firm, with only single mother Dorothy Boyd joining him in his new venture. Banking on their sole client, football player Rod Tidwell, Jerry and Dorothy begin to fall in love as they struggle to make their business work.

Grease

Teen lovebirds-turned-classmates Sandy and Danny struggle to juggle lingering feelings, new friendships and more in this iconic ensemble movie-musical.
