Telemundo Studios And Brazil’s Globo Strike Scripted Co-Production Deal

In a move to expand their global reach, Telemundo Studios and Brazil’s leading media company Globo – one of the largest content producers in Latin America – have signed a deal to co-produce original films and series.

The media companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) that will boost their existing relationship by collaborating to develop premium content for audiences in the U.S., Brazil and international markets.

Although the titles, formats, and production models are still being defined, the focus is on creating high-value intellectual property (IP) with broad international appeal.

“With our unique expertise and ability to produce content that resonates globally, this partnership is going to strengthen our editorial alignment and paves the way for premium scripted projects that connect with audiences across borders,” says Javier Pons, Chief Content Officer and Head of Telemundo Studios, a division of NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises.

The original films and series will be released as Globoplay Originals in Brazil and on Telemundo’s broadcast and streaming platforms in the U.S. The collaboration builds on a history of successfully co-producing adaptations of iconic Globo telenovelas, including Spanish-language adaptations such as Vale Tudo (Vale Todo) and O Clone (El Clon).

“By bringing together our strengths, we’re confident we can develop compelling stories that not only resonate in Brazil and the U.S. but also expand our international reach at a time when global storytelling is more important than ever,” states Manuel Belmar, Director of Digital Products at Globo.
