Teenager Ethan Crumbley Pleads Guilty To Michigan School Shooting

Topline

Ethan Crumbley, the 16-year-old charged with killing four students at a Michigan high school last year, pleaded guilty to all charges against him in court Monday.

Key Facts

Crumbley had 24 charges filed against him, including 4 counts of first-degree murder and a count of terrorism that caused death.

State Judge Kwame Rowe scheduled a February 9 hearing, and said he will set a sentencing date later, at which victims’ families will be able to speak, CNN reported.

Crumbley faces life in prison without parole.

Key Background

In November, police arrived at Oxford High, about 35 miles north of Detroit, to respond to calls of an active shooter. They found three students dead on the scene and seven others injured. An additional victim, also a student, died later at a hospital. Crumbley was taken into custody. Days later, Crumbley’s parents, Jennifer and James Crumbley, were charged with four counts each of involuntary manslaughter after prosecutors said that the behavior of the pair was “far beyond negligence” and allegedly gave their son access to a gun while failing to address his mental health issues. They pleaded not guilty.

This is a developing story.
