Seven Taylor Swift albums chart in the U.K. this week, with Folklore making a notable return and The … More
Every week, Taylor Swift proves herself to be a chart titan, and not just in the United States, but all around the world. Her domination of the United Kingdom-focused rankings is nothing new at this point, as it’s become increasingly common to find multiple albums of hers holding on across a number of tallies. This frame, seven of her full-lengths appear across several charts in the country, with some climbing, some dipping, and one in particular making an especially intriguing return.
Folklore Is the Only Taylor Swift Album That Returns
Among the seven Swift titles that find space on the U.K. charts this week, Folklore is the only one that reappears. The folk-pop-indie pivot project returns to not one, but two tallies at the same time. It breaks back onto the Official Physical Albums chart at No. 95, a list that tracks the bestselling titles on vinyl, CD, and cassette throughout the country. The Grammy-winning set also breaks back onto the Official Albums Sales list, which compiles pure purchases regardless of format. On that tally, it just barely squeaks back in, settling at No. 100.
Folklore Appears on Four Charts in the U.K.
Thanks to its returns, Folklore is now present on four separate charts in the U.K. this frame. Beyond the pair of purchase-focused tallies, it’s also a winner on the streaming-focused list. On the current edition of the Official Albums Streaming ranking, Folklore lifts slightly, climbing two spots to No. 59.
Its gains there are offset, however, by a small dip on the broader Official Albums chart, which ranks the 100 most-consumed titles in the nation. On that all-encompassing tally, the LP falls three spaces to No. 64.
Two Taylor Swift Albums are on the Rise
Most of Swift’s releases move in a mix of ups and downs, with performances varying across the different charts — but two of them are consistently growing. Both The Tortured Poets Department and 1989 (Taylor’s Version) climb across all four charts they appear on this week.
Other titles, including Lover, Reputation, and Midnights, continue with a strong presence on multiple rankings, though their movements are less uniform. They’re gaining on some tallies while slipping on others, keeping them in play, but not trending in any single direction.
Fearless (Taylor’s Version) Makes a Quiet Return
Among Swift’s seven currently-charting albums, only one appears on just a single list this week. Fearless (Taylor’s Version) shows up on the Official Country Artists Albums chart, where it can usually be found. This frame, it lifts one space, returning to the top five on that niche ranking.
Folklore Was a Surprise, and a Sonic Turning Point
Folklore arrived in the summer of 2020 as a surprise release, and it marked a notable sonic shift for Swift. Stepping away from her radio-friendly pop sound, the album embraced softer, more introspective sounds drawn from folk, indie, and alternative music. It debuted to widespread acclaim and ultimately earned her the coveted Album of the Year Grammy. The project produced several hit singles, including “Cardigan,” “Exile” with Bon Iver and “The 1.”
