Ever since Taylor Swift released The Life of a Showgirl, no other album has been able to beat it to the top spot on the Billboard 200 chart in America. The singer-songwriter’s newest blockbuster is still performing incredibly well seven weeks into its run on the Billboard 200, the ranking of the most consumed albums and EPs in the United States…though the number of units it shifts every period dwindles, which is to be expected.
As The Life of a Showgirl commands the Billboard 200 for another moment, it advances within Swift’s discography and ties with a fan favorite as one of her longest-running champions ever.
How Many Weeks Has The Life of a Showgirl Spent at No. 1?
The Life of a Showgirl has now controlled the Billboard 200 for seven consecutive frames. The title launched atop the tally back in mid-October, and despite several popular projects debuting inside the top 10 and earning lofty openings, nothing has made a real play for the peak position since then.

The Life of a Showgirl is now tied as Swift’s album with the fifth-most weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. The Life of a Showgirl is on the same level as Red, which opened at No. 1 back in 2012 and spent seven of its 185 weeks — at least so far — at the summit.
The Life of a Showgirl Beats Speak Now, Midnights and 1989 (Taylor’s Version)
Just last frame, The Life of a Showgirl was matched with three other Swift classics, which all ruled the Billboard 200 for half a dozen spans. That collection includes Speak Now, Midnights, and 1989 (Taylor’s Version).
Will The Life of a Showgirl Match Folklore?
If The Life of a Showgirl can earn another stay at No. 1 on the Billboard 200, it will advance again within Swift’s own catalog, matching the eight frames that Folklore managed. That surprise full-length was released after only a few hours’ notice in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic, and in the 278 weeks it has spent on the Billboard 200, eight have been in charge.

Swift’s longest-running No. 1 on the Billboard 200 remains The Tortured Poets Department. That 2024 full-length held on for 10 weeks longer at No. 1 than The Life of a Showgirl – 17 in total. 1989 is matched with Fearless as her second-longest-running winners with 11 weeks atop the Billboard 200 apiece.
How Many Copies Did The Life of a Showgirl Move This Week?
The number of units The Life of a Showgirl moves every frame dwindles, but when an album launches with a historic showing, there’s nowhere to go but down. The Life of a Showgirl debuted atop the Billboard 200 with just over four million equivalent units, becoming the first set to pass that landmark in just seven days of activity. The following period, it moved 338,000 units.
This frame, dated November 29, The Life of a Showgirl holds onto its control of the throne with just 93,000 equivalent units, according to Luminate. This frame marks the first time that Swift’s latest full-length has moved fewer than 100,000 copies between sales and streaming activity.

It seems likely that in short order The Life of a Showgirl will be pushed from the top spot on the Billboard 200 for the first time since it debuted. Stray Kids will likely claim a new No. 1, as the South Korean boy band’s new EP Do It is expected to launch atop the tally.
The soundtrack that accompanies the musical film Wicked: For Good might come in second place, meaning Swift will not only fail to appear at No. 1 for the first time, but that she will dip two spaces. The Life of a Showgirl could rebound in the coming frames and months, especially if she continues to promote it with additional singles or if holiday shoppers pick up copies on vinyl and CD in large numbers.
The Life of a Showgirl Lives Inside the Top Five on All Charts
This week, The Life of a Showgirl is present on four Billboard charts, and it appears inside the top three on all of them. In addition to the Billboard 200, the set controls the Top Streaming Albums tally once more. The pop project improves one spot to the runner-up rung on the Vinyl Albums list and also gains ground to No. 3 on the Top Album Sales roster.
