Taylor Swift’s ‘Cruel Summer’ Will Likely Hit The Hot 100’s Top 10 Next Week

For years, Swifties—Taylor Swift’s dedicated and rabid fan base—have been championing her song “Cruel Summer,” and many will insist it ranks among her best and most underrated. But soon, it may no longer be one of her most unsung tracks as it looks like the years-old cut is headed for the highest of highs on the Billboard charts very soon.

This week, “Cruel Summer” rises from No. 18 to No. 13 on the Hot 100, missing the top 10 by just a few spaces. The track has been climbing the ranking steadily and at a healthy pace for several weeks, and it looks like it will break into the top 10 for the first time next frame.

“Cruel Summer” is performing well across all three metrics that feed into the Hot 100, which are streams, sales, and radio airplay. This week, Swift’s new hit surges highest on the Radio Songs chart, which tracks the tunes that reach the largest audience at radio in the U.S. “Cruel Summer” lifts from No. 48 to No. 24 in just its second frame on the tally.

The electro-pop track also improves on the Streaming Songs chart as well. This frame, “Cruel Summer” lifts to No. 12, a new high, after settling at No. 15 last time around.

Interestingly, despite the fact that Swift is known as one of the few musicians who can sell a song in large numbers, “Cruel Summer” isn’t overperforming when it comes to pure purchases. This week, the tune falls to No. 13 on the Digital Song Sales chart after hitting the top 10 last period.

If “Cruel Summer” does enter the Hot 100’s top 10 next week, the tune will become Swift’s forty-first placement inside the highest region on the chart. It’s an unlikely journey to the top 10 as “Cruel Summer” was initially released nearly four years ago. It was an album cut on Swift’s Lover and never released as an official single until just a few weeks ago, after interest in the cut exploded after she started performing it on her The Eras Tour.
