Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department returns to No. 1 on the Official Albums chart after a … More
Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department just celebrated its first birthday, and instead of simply holding on, the album is storming back to the top in the United Kingdom this week. While it’s no shock to see Swift leading the charge on any albums chart, the fact that she does so with a project that’s now been charting for a full year is undeniably impressive, and it speaks to not only the popularity of the project itself, but her ability to keep titles going long after many other, newer sets have come and gone.
The Tortured Poets Department Returns to No. 1
The Tortured Poets Department rockets from No. 24 to No. 1 on the Official Albums chart, which ranks the most-consumed full-lengths and EPs in the U.K. based on a blend of pure sales and streaming activity. Last week, the set was still hanging on at a respectable No. 24, a solid placement for a project that just hit its fifty-second frame on the tally. Now, it’s back on top, earning its eleventh nonconsecutive stay in the penthouse.
Taylor Swift Hits No. 1 for the First Time in Months
The Tortured Poets Department hadn’t been seen at No. 1 on the Official Albums chart since December 2024. At the end of last year, the collection managed two more frames in first place before it began drifting downward.
The blockbuster originally opened at No. 1 back in early May 2024. During its initial 11 weeks on the roster, it missed ruling for just three frames, only stepping down to No. 2 before reclaiming its throne. To date, the set has now collected a total of 31 weeks inside the top 10.
Taylor Swift’s Latest Album is a Bestseller (Again)
Swift’s latest project doesn’t just lead the main Official Albums chart — it’s also back at No. 1 on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums rankings. What’s particularly impressive is that last week, The Tortured Poets Department wasn’t present on either of those two sales-driven tallies. The set has previously reached the summit on both lists, but this frame, it not only returns, it comes back as the grandest bestseller in the U.K. again.
The Tortured Poets Department Grows Across the Charts
The Tortured Poets Department is also gaining on a few other charts in the U.K., where it doesn’t lead the charge. This week, the bestseller rises slightly on the Official Albums Streaming ranking, lifting from No. 21 to No. 18. At the same time, it breaks back onto the Official Album Downloads list, though it only manages a lowly No. 82, as it’s clear that fans of the singer-songwriter prefer to purchase her music on formats like CD and vinyl.
A Full Year for Taylor Swift’s Latest
The Tortured Poets Department has now spent 53 weeks on both the Official Albums and Official Albums Streaming charts, meaning it has never fallen off either ranking. This frame marks the title’s first full year appearing on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts. The set has made far fewer appearances on the Official Album Downloads roster, having only earned 31 stays there thus far.
