Taylor Swift Matches Two Of Music’s Biggest Stars As She Rules Again

Taylor Swift’s The Life of a Showgirl is steady at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 this week. The full-length, one of the most highly anticipated in recent memory, launched in first place last frame and may continue to rule for a long time.

After opening with the largest debut of all time, it’s no surprise that The Life of a Showgirl refuses to give up its control over the throne, and as it holds, Swift matches Playboi Carti and Morgan Wallen with just the third set to spend its first two frames on the Billboard 200 at No. 1.

Playboi Carti Started This 2025 Trend

Carti was the first artist to manage the feat when he dropped his album Music this past spring. Fans had been waiting years for the project, and it opened with just under 300,000 equivalent units. Music sat at No. 1 for two weeks in a row, then stepped aside as Ariana Grande’s Eternal Sunshine reconquered the list, and then Music scored its third nonconsecutive period running the show.

Morgan Wallen Claims the Longest-Ruling Album of 2025

Wallen was the second musician to accomplish this specific feat, and his run at No. 1 was far more impressive than Carti’s – or Swift’s, at least so far. The country singer-songwriter’s I’m the Problem opened atop the Billboard 200 in late May with a little less than half a million equivalent units shifted. The set would go on to rule for eight consecutive frames, never shifting less than 150,000 units.

Then, for two weeks, Wallen was forced from the summit as Jack Boys 2 — credited to Jack Boys and Travis Scott — and Tyler, the Creator’s semi-surprise project Don’t Tap the Glass both opened at No. 1. Then I’m the Problem returned to the peak position for another four weeks in a row, bringing its total thus far to an even dozen turns atop the Billboard 200.

Taylor Swift Leads the Billboard 200 for a Second Week

Swift’s new album is just the third to spend its first two weeks atop the Billboard 200, but there are several other bestsellers and strong streamers that have led the charge for more than one frame in 2025. Bad Bunny’s Debí Tirar Más Fotos has spent four nonconsecutive turns ruling. SZA’s SOS – originally released back in 2022 – has racked up another three stays in the penthouse in 2025 alone. Kendrick Lamar’s GNX and the KPop Demon Hunter soundtrack have also both lived at number one for a pair of turns.

The Life of a Showgirl Outsells All Competition by a Huge Margin

The Life of a Showgirl doesn’t only manage to appear at No. 1 again, it easily outpaces the competition on the Billboard 200. The set is unmoved thanks to more than 338,000 equivalent units shifted. That is a far cry from the four million it debuted with, but even a 90-plus percent drop in total consumption didn’t give any other project a chance.

The No. 2 album in America this week, the KPop Demon Hunter soundtrack, shifted 104,000 equivalent units — less than one-third of what The Life of a Showgirl earned up during the same timeframe.

Taylor Swift Rules Four Billboard Charts Simultaneously

The Life of a Showgirl is steady at No. 1 on all four Billboard charts it debuted atop last week. In addition to the Billboard 200, the project also commands the Top Album Sales, Top Streaming Albums, and Vinyl Albums lists. It will likely dominate all four for several more weeks, and Swift could remain in charge of some of the most competitive tallies for months based on her history.

Taylor Swift’s Other Charting Albums Fall Together

As The Life of a Showgirl earns another stay at No. 1, Swift’s 10 other albums that appear on at least one Billboard chart uniformly decline from where they landed a short time ago. As is often the case whenever Swift delivers a new full-length, many of her past projects that continue to chart see sales and streams skyrocket, and thus they climb whatever roster they appear on the following frame. There’s almost always a decline afterward, as is the case at the moment with popular titles like The Tortured Poets Department, Folklore, Midnights, and several others.

“The Fate of Ophelia” Keeps Taylor Swift at the Top

As The Life of a Showgirl rules four Billboard albums rankings, the set’s lead single “The Fate of Ophelia” also manages to appear at No. 1 on multiple tallies. The track keeps in first place on the Hot 100, Streaming Songs chart, as well as both of the company’s global rosters.

After finally being offered for sale outside of The Life of a Showgirl — a status the other 11 songs on the project’s tracklist have yet to earn — “The Fate of Ophelia” launches at No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart. Swift scores her milestone thirtieth ruler as it arrives.
