We love it when artists support each other — especially when it’s the planet’s two biggest superstars. Both Taylor Swift and Beyoncé have concert films documenting their highly successful tours that topped Forbes’ highest-grossing concert tours list of 2023.
Swift, who recently returned after wrapping up The Eras Tour’s South American leg in Brazil, flew to London to attend Beyoncé’s Renaissance film premiere in London on Nov. 30. Swift wore a glittery Balmain dress with her iconic red lip and snapped photos with fans.
The Midnights singer’s attendance comes one month after Bey supported Swift at her Eras Tour film premiere in Los Angeles in October. “I’m so glad I’ll never know what my life would’ve been like without @beyonce’s influence,” Swift penned on Instagram, alongside a gif of her and the Renaissance star, after the event. “The way she’s taught me and every artist out here to break rules and defy industry norms.”
“Her generosity of spirit. Her resilience and versatility,” Swift continued. “She’s been a guiding light throughout my career and the fact that she showed up tonight was like an actual fairytale.”
Beyoncé’s Renaissance Tour wrapped up in October 2023 after 56 stops in 12 countries worldwide. The tour grossed $579 million, becoming one of the highest-grossing tours in history, per Forbes.
Beyoncé and Taylor Swift’s mutual support is refreshing in an industry where there’s so much competition. It also serves as a powerful example of artists championing each other’s success. (Not to mention, it’s a full circle moment for Swift after Kanye West infamously interrupted her and said Beyoncé was more deserving of her MTV Video Music Award back in 2009.)
Both artists will reap millions with their respective concert films. Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé, which comes out on Dec. 1, is expected to bring in $17 million to $20 million in its opening weekend, according to Variety. On a global level, the film is targeting $30 to $40 million in its first weekend.
Meanwhile, The Eras Tour has already helped Swift achieve her billionaire status. The movie has collected more than $178 million in domestic sales and over $248 million globally since its premiere, according to Box Office Mojo.
Both artists struck historic movie deals by bypassing studios and going straight to the distributor, AMC Entertainment
AMC
Renaissance: A Film By Beyoncé will run for at least four weeks in AMC theaters across the U.S. starting Friday, Dec. 1.
