Streamy Nominees Include Charli D’Amelio, MrBeast, xQc, Ice Spice

The 13th annual Streamy Awards announced nominees in nearly 50 categories, led by such prominent names as TikTok queen Charli D’Amelio, feel-good YouTuber MrBeast, pugilist/podcaster Logan Paul, 2022’s Streamer of the Year Kai Cenat, gaming power xQc, and Twitch news commentator HasanAbi, also known as Hasan Piker. Seemingly perpetual nominee Good Mythical Morning is back among Show of the Year nominees after winning the category last year.

The Streamys attempt to recognize the biggest and best personalities, programs and brands across the sprawling, complicated world of social media and beyond, on services such as TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, YouTube, Facebook and more, even as the ranks of “creators” have swollen to many millions of people and projects on multiplying platforms with planet-wide reach. (note: I formerly wrote a regular column for Streamys organizer Tubefilter, and have been a judge in previous years)

Creator of the year nominees include Airrack, Alix Earle, Jay Shetty, JiDion, Mikayla Nogueira, Ryan Trahan, as well as D’Ameilo, Paul and MrBeast (James Stephen Donaldson), who is known for his many philanthropic campaigns.

Show of the year nominees include AMP, Bryce from Brandon ROgers, Challenge Accepted from Michelle Khare, Chicken Shop Date from Amelia Dimoldenberg, Hot Ones from First We Feast, I spent a day with from Anthony Padilla, RDCWorld, Same and Colby, and UNHhhh from WowPresents, as well as Good Mythical Morning, a frequent Streamys nominee and winner over its long YouTube run.

Streamer of the year nominees include Emiru, Ironmouse, IShowSpeed, Ludwig, Quackity, tarik, Valkyrae, as well as HasanAbi and xQc (Felix Lengyel), who made news earlier this summer when he ditched his long-time perch as one of Twitch’s most popular personalities for a two-year deal valued at $70 million to appear on upstart streaming competitor Kick.

Rolling Stone is sponsoring a “sound of the year” category, featuring two nominations for burgeoning hip hop star Ice Spice (In Ha Mood and her collaboration with PinkPantheress, Boy’s a liar Pt. 2). Other music nominees include the Grammy-winning Unholy from Sam Smith and Kim Petras, and songs from Meghan Trainor, d4vd, Kalili, Armani White, Coi Leray, Big Boss Vette, and Doechii.

Seventeen subject categories ranging from animated to food to fashion and style to technology each honor a handful of nominees, including notables such as Markiplier (Gamer), The Philip DeFranco Show (News), and LSU gymnast Olivia Dunne (Sports).

Prime Video and Chinese action-camera maker Insta360. Chipotle also had nominations for branded video and social-impact campaign.

The Streamys were moved up this year from the December date of the past several years, and will be held on Aug. 27 in Los Angeles. Tubefilter produces the show with long-time partner Dick Clark Productions, and last year streamed it on host Airrack’s own YouTube channel, attracting 6.4 million views.

This year’s show will be hosted by MatPat, the creator behind a string of cultural-commentary YouTube channels, including The Game Theorists, The Film Theorists, The Food Theorists, and The Style Theorists.
