We’ve waited three long years —that’s 36 months since we last checked in on the haunted town of Hawkins, Indiana. And now, at long last, Netflix has dropped a trailer for the blockbuster series’ fifth and final season: Stranger Things: The Final Chapter.
Mark your calendars: Stranger Things returns for part one of its long-awaited last hurrah on November 26. Part two drops on Christmas. And the official conclusion is on New Year’s Day.
The most immediate observation? All hell is about to break loose.
Naturally, our once-innocent Stand by Me-esque quartet – Finn Wolfhard (Mike), Noah Schnapp (Will), Gaten Matarazzo (Dustin), and Caleb McLaughlin (Lucas) – are no longer kids. They’re full-fledged young adults now, as is Millie Bobby Brown’s Eleven, along with the rest of the core cast. And there doesn’t seem to be a dull moment for anyone.
When we last left off in July 2022, season 4 ended on a dark and chaotic note. Vecna – aka Henry Creel (Jamie Campbell Bower) – succeeded in opening a gate to the Upside Down, unleashing destruction across Hawkins. Max (Sadie Sink) was killed, but Eleven managed to bring her back, leaving her comatose. As the Upside Down began bleeding into the real world, the stage was set for a final, high-stakes battle – not just to save Hawkins, but perhaps the entire world.
The official season 5 logline: The fall of 1987. Hawkins is scarred by the opening of the Rifts, and our heroes are united by a single goal: find and kill Vecna. But he has vanished — his whereabouts and plans unknown. Complicating their mission, the government has placed the town under military quarantine and intensified its hunt for Eleven, forcing her back into hiding. As the anniversary of Will’s disappearance approaches, so does a heavy, familiar dread. The final battle is looming — and with it, a darkness more powerful and more deadly than anything they’ve faced before. To end this nightmare, they’ll need everyone — the full party — standing together, one last time.
And, the trailer, which should whet your appetite for the return of Stranger Things.
