Topline
Steve Lacy’s song “Bad Habit” topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart Monday, becoming the 24-year-old’s first leading hit and ending the record-breaking 14-week-long run of Harry Styles’ song “As It Was” at the No. 1 spot.
Key Facts
Lacy’s single reached its previous peak of No. 2 last month after being released in June.
Styles’s song “As It Was” ran for 15 weeks at No. 1 on the Hot 100, becoming one of the longest-running top songs of all time.
His record is potentially not over for good—Styles’ time at No. 1 has been non-consecutive, and he could return to the top of the chart.
Lacy’s success has been largely driven by TikTok, where nearly 500,000 videos have been made to the song.
Between September 23 and 29, “Bad Habit” had 40.3 million radio airplay impressions, 20.4 million streams and 2,000 downloaded sales, according to Billboard.
That same tracking week, it was the No. 2 song on Spotify, with over 10 million streams on the platform.
