The inaugural event received positive attendee feedback, especially after announcing the Game of the Year award winners. At a live broadcast from Sao Paulo, Gamescom Latam 2024 announced Chants of Sennaar as the game of the year. The Rundisc-developed game reportedly caught players’ attention for its graphics, colors, and gameplay.
A member of the Rundisc team expressed gratitude to Gamescom Latam for the award, adding that he hoped it would incentivize more people to play the game. Other indie games are also featured in the award lineup, which reportedly delighted gaming fans globally.
Gamescom Latam releases more details on the upcoming event
The 2025 festivities are expected to be bigger than the inaugural event, featuring even more guests and developers. Gamescom Latam 2025 is also expected to provide more opportunities to the Latin American region, boosting its presence in the video game industry.
It was reported that Gamescom Latam had a B2B partnership with Abragames through the Brazil Games Project. The event is also sponsored by Banco de Brasil and carried out by Omelete & Co, creative industries of Sao Paulo, Economu, Gamescom, and Sao Paulo Association of Friends of Art and Secretary of Culture. The Gamescom Latam team announced that a list of new sponsors and supporters would be released soon.
The team also announced that attendees can access their tickets online and network with others through the platform from April 30 to October 3, 2025. It added that online and in-person business tickets included full access to the business area, meeting panels, and up to 15 pre-booked panels.
The Gamescom team also mentioned that VIP online and in-person business tickets would enable attendees to access the VIP networking events and have exclusive early entry before the general public.
The Gamescom Latam team said it closed the early bird B2B tickets on February 3. It also announced that it had officially closed its submissions for 2025 after receiving 962 game entries. The team added that the new number surpassed the 2024 figure of 922 and was a milestone in the festival’s history.
The increase in numbers shows the festival’s growing popularity as a platform for emerging and established developers. Each year, the festival is said to handpick the top 100 innovative games to showcase their work on an international platform.
In 2024, the event featured over 70 participating publishers, including Nintendo, Wargaming, Xbox, Ubisoft, Epic Games, Bandai Namco, Roblox, Atari, Niantic, TecToy, and Akapura.
