While they’re considered an extreme metal band, Slipknot’s massive and dedicated fanbase has continued to hold them high in the light of the mainstream. With their 2019 record We Are Not Your Kind, Slipknot landed at No.1 on the U.K’s Official Charts and as of this week the band has done so again with their latest album, The End, So Far. Official Charts U.K. has revealed this week that Slipknot have snagged their third U.K. number one album with their seventh LP, following their 2001 sophomore record Iowa, and 2019’s We Are Not Your Kind. To make matters more interesting, The End, So Far happens to be the band’s final record with longtime label Roadrunner Records, who’ve been at the band’s side ever since their 1999 self-titled debut.
The official U.S. Top 200 Billboard charts for this week have yet to be released, but based off the patterns of Slipknot’s past two album releases it’s likely The End, So Far will land in the top 5 or even at No.1, which would make it the band’s fourth No.1 album in the U.S.
Overall, it’s fitting to see the band and label part ways with another successful album together, especially when the album’s title is possibly a nod to Slipknot’s history and relationship with Roadrunnner. However, that’s also not to say everything has gone over smoothly with this record’s debut. Their are reports of physical copies for The End, So Far that have a misprint in the album title, specifically reading ‘The End For Now…’. In a recent AMA on reddit, singer Corey Taylor addressed the issue stating “The End, So Far was the correct name, somebody f**ked up and didn’t double check with us.” Obviously, it’s quite the massive error for such a huge and anticipated release, and it appears the label’s damage control for the error was to add a sticker with the correct title next to the incorrect print. It’s not exactly a fitting solution, but on the other hand vinyl collectors might be in for a pretty penny later down the road with this misprint.
